Been on Home Max since Oct 2007 and they have increased prices commencing 19th January and now they are increasing all call costs AGAIN from the 19th February!!! How can they insist on a 12 month contract but put the price up every month? Buried in the small print of the new contract is that if you don't complain within 7 days you have accepted the increases. Any ideas anyone?
I suspect that is all you were meant to see as the old calls price list has been removed and the new one substituted and as the old one ran to 8 or nine pages unlees you downloaded it you can't know what else they have increased. But watch out for the free 1571 and caller id service you have to write in and say you do not want these services or they will charge after 6 months
While there are a few parts where fees have gone up there's a bunch that have actually gone down.
They've gone for the Weekdays / Evenings / Weekends system where each gets progressively cheaper. For example, if I remember right, 0870 numbers go down to 3p a minute at weekends instead of the 7p flat rate, whilst in the daytime they're a touch more expensive.
Generally if you do most of your calling out of work hours then this ends up being pretty good for you.
So they have increased weekday and evening calls as well as the call set up charge. but using the say no to 0870.com site any 0870 calls at the weekend are totally free anyway. It would be a change for them to be upfront about any price increases!
Where does it say they will charge after 6 months for the 1571 and caller ID? how much is it?
New terms and conditions page 7 of 15 section 19.2 and these are the additional services. If you do not notify them to discontinue they will charge for them. They do not specify how much and none of the customer services people appear to know either, perhaps they are still working out how much they can con us for
caller id is free as standard i believe, others maybe extra, 1571 may also be free but thats the one im not 100% sure on. I did hear something about caller id from Orange but not 1571. Try ringing belfast home phone team they will be able to give you some idea (rough idea not exact price) if the prices have not been finalised
When I took out my contract, I asked what the chargest would be for 1571 and caller ID after the first 6 months (as it was in the contract then). They said they didn't know and that it would probably be free. We shall wait and see.
At the moment I am more bothered about them cutting off my second line due to under usage. I told them that I used the service for around 2 hours in the last 15 days and they told me that it must be over usage instead! Sounds like excuses to me!
