In other words, Orange has their own equipment at your local BT exchange so that they don't have to use BT's. This allows them to offer custom products and lower prices as they are not tied to BT's own offerings.
The problem is when you wish to move away.
Since they use their own equipment and not BT's, you WILL HAVE TO PAY £. 47 to the new provider which they will send to BT, just to have you moved from Orange's own LLU to BT's!
Be aware of what is happening.
I will go away and I was just changed to LLU 2 months before my contract end!
That tells you all - they will probably say, it was programmed already!
You pay £. 12.99 x 12 + £. 47 to go away per year which is:
£. 17.15 x year for this bad service?
Certain ISPs charge you to move from LLU but this is charged to you by the ISP you're moving TO and is clearly stated beforehand.
Maybe you did not understand or I may have typed it wrong.
Of course you 'always' pay the 'new' ISP that fee and that fee is what BT ask the new ISP to pay to send a technician to move your line back onto BT servers (or possibly just do it by computer!).
What I meant was, every time you leave an ISP that has its own LLU, you will pay that amount - it does not matter to whom - what matters is that 'you' must pay it and I bet Orange and other ISPs know that the majority will probably stay! Nice trick!
With a ISP like Orange (and I am not the only one saying it - just read this forums) you get a bad service and then you wishto go away, you will have to wait the end of the contract 'one year' and you will have to pay that fee to any new ISP as mentioned above.
I hope this clears what I mean and meant.
It is important to try and not interpret what other write, but understand what they are sayng and properly read their posts. If it is not clear, then ask for an explanation.
I hope you Orange line is fine - unless you work for Orange.

If you did read it properly I said: you will have to pay to the new provider - new provider is the new ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Your original post was under a heading "ORANGE LLU name and shame - BEWARE"
This infers that it only applies to Orange. Your 2nd post is more explicit.
But to my knowledge the charge is only levied when moving from LLU to Ipstream/Max and not all ISPs pass on the charge to the incoming customer.
We are on OrangeProblems website and I stick to that title.
As said, if you read the first message, I explain it already there.
Anyway, you understood now.
I hope I do not have to pay, but if I do is not a problem as I will go to a better service for sure - Orange being amogst the last ones in the UK, it is not that difficult to get a better service.
Like an Italian comedian started his gig saying:
It is 'MY' fault!
This way, we will find a guilty party - even if I have done nothing!
I usually use it when a customer or anybody else keep not seeing what i mean in my writings.
It is my fault, I badly wrote it!
No offence, we are still friends and working for the same object - do our best to 'make' Orange behave as a 'large' Company should do.
Even their own employees say it!
PS: I have just noticed today (while using dial-up - yes, I had problems in the morning wioth Orange again - not only home now!) and when Orange website loads (the slowest seen on earth - other websites are faster) it loads its website from wanadoo.es !
