For the past two months I've been receiving emails from Orange stating there's an outstanding balance on my account. I can't see how I do owe them money given you pay for your Broadband service in advance.
As soon as I received my MAC code I cancelled my direct debit as I knew it was my responsibility to do so. The next payment on the account was due 10 days after I cancelled my contract with them, so why do I owe them money?
I sent them an email before Christmas and I've just received a reply stating I owe them £44.98 and if I wish to receive more information I should ring them on normal 0870 number - sod that.
Has anyone else experienced this before from them?
Using the MAC code is in fact formally cancelling the contract. To cancel the contract you must give 30 days notice so 30 days from the day the MAC was used.

That and cancelling the direct debit as soon as you got the MAC, even if you used it that day, would probably push the point when they got the confirmation over the point at which the money was requested.
Technicnally you probably do owe them something under the contract, as already mentioned the 30 day notice for MACs begins once confirmation comes back it's been used.
