Right until about 2 week ago i was getting 6.8mb but now the most i have received is 3.4 so does this mean im being capped and should i complain?
i am approximately 2.20km from the exchange (straight line distance). and the live box thing is ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 6.9
Attenuation (dB) : 40.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 2688
ADSL status : Connected [0]

Oh dear. Your 288 upload speed means your line is noe on oranges LLU equipment. Most people on LLU are capped.
Im capped on 608kbps download and have been complaining to the ISPA for the last couple of weeks. Orange a not responding.
If I were you id start complaining. Let them know that you know its LLU and see what they say. You might have a long battle ahead unless you are prepared to tolerate your speed.
You've got a stability problem being so far from the exchange, your attenuation is 49 compared to 40, it's struggling to maintain a connection, never mind a decent speed.
Check your own cabling and if that's OK then get BT to check theirs but being so far from the exchange you can't expect miracles !

Huh???
Im 2km from the exchange.
I have no problems with stability of the connection, and I used to get 2meg fine before Orange put me on LLU.
As further proof that Borednow hasnt got a clue what he is talking about, I just put my noise margin and attenuation into the pre-max checker that this site recommends.
Your stats show that, according to the livebox your running a fraction below what is attainable on your line, you're not capped as your sync speed isn't locked at one of the specific speeds for that.
Looks like something has caused the margin to drop, most likely, since the change to LLU. Best thing to do is rule out anything your side and them get Orange to do a line test and see if it finds any problems.
Pdoherty76.
Your SNR is higher meaning your line is longer, however I agree with you that this in no way instantly means the line is any less stable. It's a problem from Orange's end. There used to be a few posts about this but they're a lot rarer these days. I don't know what specifically causes it or how to fix it excpet it requires investigation by a higher level of support to find the cause.
well elhana i've done a few tests with the test socket and im still only achieving 3mb but ive also got a crackly phone after removing the wire inserted in 3 any ideas why this is?

If the phone(s) are all filtered ok then I'm not really sure. I'm not all that familiar with the actual wiring so I'll leave that to someone else to answer.

what about my stat below, now i'm capped at 1m only. do u think i should've got much higher?
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 23.7
Attenuation (dB) : 39.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 4832
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 1152 288
Ok, you're definitely capped at 1 meg. As the attainable shows you could get a lot higher, depending on stability 3.5-4meg.
Such a handy info. Also other pages within this link provide some useful info.
Back to my slow speed problem. I was told by tech support that now I've been put on the migration plan, which would give me a faster speed once the migration is done.
Again, I was told to wait another 5 days then see how much improved.
