Hi,

I have had a problem for around Three years now that I have still not contacted Wanadoo/Orange about as I am not sure if this is an error or not.

Now and again I receive Emails that were not intended for myself. My Email address is made up as follows:

firstname@sirnameNN.freeserve.co.uk (NN being a two digit number)

The Emails are to exactly the same address as my own but with a different first name.

Can anyone tell me if this is an error or whether it has just been the incorrect number (NN) used by the sender causing the problem.

Yes and no.

The email account address is the bit "@surnamenn.freeserve.co.uk".

You can put anything you want before "@" and it will still go to that account.

So it seems you have the same email address as A.N.Other.

Don't know whether Orange can do anything about it, they probably would suggest changing yours if you notify them.

Be aware GOGGS75 when i asked for my address (also Freeserve) to be changed for the same reason a while back they wanted to put me into a new contract their reason was to change my email address they would cancel my account and open a new one, i left it and got a new address elsewhere, if you don't mind that then thats what they will do.

Just a thought, as you only occasionally receive these emails, you might try emailing A.N.Other using their email address as you received it :

firstname@surnameNN.freeserve.co.uk

asking if they are still using that address because it might turn out that they have moved from Orange and it's a defunct address.

If you don't get a response then you have the answer !
