I've had dialup with Wanadoo/Orange for a few years now, and I was moved to broadband. I got the new modem and everything yesterday, so I set it all up today.
The letter clearly said that my username and password would be the same.
The installation went ok and I tried connecting. I keep getting the same error.
Access was denied because the username and/or password was invalid on the domain.
Luckily my dialup still works so I connected via that to check the email account on Orange that I never use, and found the email with the "new" username. It was just the same with @fs on the end. I tried that and I still get the same error.
Do I have to uninstall everything and reinstall using that address instead at the beginning, or is it something else? I used to get that error sometimes with dialup and it would just connect the next time I tried, this time I'm getting it constantly. I've tried retyping it, copying it from the email.. everything. Did anyone have the same trouble as me?
I have signed into my account on the site, and it says on one page:

We are currently processing an order for your broadband account. It is not possible to change your speed.
A friend of mine says that it could be cos Orange haven't finished upgrading my account. Doesn't dialup close in a few days time? And doesn't it say on the letter that you can connect to broadband as soon as you get the modem, then it deletes your dialup account when you do.
I hope I don't have to call them, I have a phone "phobia" lol.

I had the same problem, open OE Tools - Internet Options - Connections Tab, put a tick in never dial a connection. You shouldn't need to sign in on a LAN connection. Have you set up a Network?
Kate
The dialup accounts use the full email address as the username don't they?
Have you made sure you're entering it in the form...
xxxxxx.orangehome.co.uk@fs
So you don't enter the name@ part from the beginning. Use whatever domain your address uses, freeserve/wanadoo/etc.
The username/password rejection should mean the line is complete, if it wasn't you'd likely get a no dialtone error 0680. (Presuming it's a speedtouch modem)
As for the never dial a connection, only set that if you got the Livebox or Siemens router. Usually it's best to leave it to always dial my default connection when you have the speedtouch.
I tried again after messing about with proxy's and whatnot, I ended up doing what kateison said to do to Internet Explorer, which I rarely use (I use Opera).. and undo'ing the rest. I then noticed a letter missing from my username.. which is odd cos it's a word I type a lot (and I mean a LOT).. and cos I typed in that username lots of times while trying this and even copied it from an email. I'm very confused. There's no way I could of made the same typo about twenty times, no way.
Oh well at least Elhana was right, at least tonight anyway, :p
Again there's no way there was a typo there the whole time.
