Just a quick question - for those with an anytime account, what is the format of the email address. When this service closes down, what will happen to those email addresses / people collecting email from them
I can understand why ISP's want to shut them down, but the same thing is happening to us with ntlworld.com (which I use for backup / making phone calls so the backup dialup is effectively free), but was wondering what will happen to the email addresses once they are lost as I assume Orange now dish out ....orangehome.co.uk type addresses (rather like ntlworld was ntlworld.com)
Just recently I had a need for something from my ntlworld account which I would never have dreamt of ever needing, but since they are closing the service down and not me leaving, I was wondering what arrangements Orange had made for people to collect mail from their old email address, or is it just tough luck
They're in the format...
name@yourname.domain.co.uk
The domain being freeserve, orangehome, wanadoo, etc.
Once they close the account reverts to a pay as you go account which closes after 219 odd days. Not sure if that changes once anytime goes but I'd expect them to keep it the same.
Oh so there's still the potential for someone else to re-register yourname within domain then. At least with ntlworld, new addresses will now be Virgin so can't see old addresses being recycled
