Hey.
Would someone take a look at these stats below and help me out, I have lost confidence in Broadband and don't know where to turn, I have had countless line tests done, visits from BT openreach telling me my line is fine, I have had modems sent but still no joy!! i can't get better than 128kbps when downloading???, it takes an age to open pdf files and streaming a vid well lets just say Dial up was better!!!!.
What i want to know is:
Are BT at fault???
Are Orange at fault???

VERY rarely do people get a fast, stable connection with Orange.
So many people, including myself, get an immediate speed increase and reliable service once they have moved away from these robbers.
I am pretty much getting that feeling!!! anyway i am in the process of writing a lengthy letter of complaint to Orange, including a list of dates when i have contacted there erm.... technical services department!!! i am including all the info that has been stated to me by there techies!!!.
Really the be all and end all is i want out now as my confidence is in tatters, But i refuse to pay there cancellation fee. so they either fix it or i am f*****g off. Problem is i am doubting wether anyone can supply me a reasonable service.. Oh well the battle goes on!!!!!
I also suggest sending copies to both ISPA and OFCOM so the complaints are logged officially.
Often these two organisations can help in getting problems resolved.

From a technical point of view, as long as it's not the livebox at fault then it's BT. Different modems being tested should have ruled that out already though.
Basically you're establishing a connection to the exchange at 192kbps. As I mentioned unless the modem/router is at fault then this is down to the line, the ADSL Max equipment, or your internal wiring but again that should have been ruled out already.
It's odd to see your attenuation so low, 6dB would suggest you're on a very short line but the low margin means that there must be a lot of noise on it. With that sort of attenuation you'd normally be getting a full 8meg sync with plenty of headroom. Also interleaving is on, another sign there's problems.
To be honest it sounds like Orange have done things right so far. Replace the modem/router to make sure it's not that and get BT to send an enginner out.
Have you tried connecting the livebox to the main phone socket and tried using the test socket? BT would normally do that and it should rule out some wiring fault in the property causing it.
If they have done that and you haven't then that might be why the engineers are saying everything's fine. They work upto the master socket, after that it's nothing to do with them and technically your responsibility.
If you have the right main socket then it'll have a line across about midway down and you can unscrew the lower part. Just gently pull it aside and you can plug directly into the test socket. If the downstream rate jumps a to a much higher figure then there's a problem in your wiring beyond that socket.
Thanks guys!!!!!!!!
I am trying the mainbox one more time with the live box and a speedtouch modem will post results when i have them.

The results i got are shown in the above post! these were results with speed touch modem?? this is connected straight into the mainbox, getting these results from main socket and test socket. to top it off i plugged my live box back in to try the same tests but it wont initialize, the @ light just flashes fast then slow, left it for an hour and still no connection so plugged speedtouch back in and i have a connection again???
Back again!!!!! here are the results from the test with the live box plugged back in, it just came back on about 20mins ago??

Thats one big jump for sync speed!
If the Speedtouch at the master socket gets that and the livebox doesn't then the livebox is faulty. If they get the same in the test socket then your wiring is at fault.
That single result however shows the exchange and external line at not at fault. (providing it's stable at that speed)
Well I have been on the phone and explained my blatently obvious results of these tests to Orange............. I got a reply along the lines of " the livebox requires a stronger signal than the speedtouch(which incidentally Orange sent me) and that the engineers will be updated with the results of my latest line test results. I am told that my livebox is ok??? dear dear i look forward to the end of this farce LOL
( I ran the tests straight through the test socket on the main box)
Ok its me again, been on the phone to Customer care in UK, about an hour ago.
Something odd has happened my connection duration time has changed from 3 days xx mins ...... to just 17 mins 30 secs. the connection speed (bottom right of taskbar) has jumped from 160kbps to 8.0 mb?? still only getting 129kbps download on test.

These stats with the livebox plugged directly into the test socket as were the other results,
Will this settle after a few days? and my real download rate improve? OH i have since learned that i am about 500 yards from the exchange!
