Background
~~~~~~~~~
On Nov 7, I first observed that my LLU download speed was apparently increased from ~ 4.4 Mbps to up to 6.7 Mbps. This was indicated by Namesco BBMax and Speedtest.net, but the other usual testers show ~4 Mbps to 4.4 Mbps, so I am sceptical and investigating, especially as there are changes to the speed test behaviour, eg ping durations and upload speeds are different and more variable than before Nov 7.
My Question
~~~~~~~~~
I notice that all my OP.co.uk speed records for the "increased speed" are marked as unverified, with a "?". This seems to suggest my "increased speed" may be dubious, but please can you tell me how the speed records are actually verified?

Hi capillaryband
The ? (unverified) status indicates that we have not yet been able to verify the speed - this may be for a number of reasons...
When speed tests are recorded on OrangeProblems.co.uk they are automatically assigned the ? status. Once they have been checked, they will either be verified (with a green tick) or there is an issue (normally the record is assigned to an incorrect ISP) in which case it will receive a red cross until we rectify the record.
We do outline on the broadband speeds page that we will usually verify most speeds within 6 working hours. This is perhaps a little optimistic and we will amend this! Unfortuantely, due to the volume of records that are recorded, it may be up to a few days before the speeds are verified. We apologise for this and are looking at ways to speed up this process.
Records are manually verified by checking what was entered by the member against what the speedtest.net image shows. We add the ping results manually too - and will soon be displaying these as they are an important part of the speed test.

I hope this answers your question.
Yes it does, thanks very much.
I think the LLU kit has been changed at my exchange, physically or in its operational characteristics. That's my hope and I'll cling to it knowing that I was always capable of near top speed because I'm 0.5km from the exchange with good router stats.
