I have recently upgraded my Orange broadband package from 2mb to 8 mb. I have yet to see a speed increase , the max I get is 1.8mb.
Been on to Orange helpdesk repeatedly over the last 5 days - absolutely useless.
Said they were doing line tests - no results.
They also wanted me try their modem. I have no desire to do this as I have my own modem router at the centre of my home network, this has worked fine for the last Three years.
Sadly I have temporarily given up after wasting time and money on wasted phone calls.
Time and time again Orange continue to use their favourite excuse 'line test'!!
They gave me that bull last years and after 2 weeks of it I left.
It's nothing more than a way to stall you.
For the reason you will have to ask Orange. Until you ask for a MAC code they will not take the cap off.
Keith
If you're still in your contract period though, they will just leave the cap on, i.e. you either use it and leave Orange, or they leave the cap and and didn't give a hoot
Does anyone know how Orange benifit from putting I cap on the speed?
Just speculating here, but I assume they are struggling with capacity, so rather than have 3 customers on 6MB, 2 of which leave because the service is extremely slow, then having 3 is better econimically for them???

How can you tell if you've been capped?
Generally the downstream connection speed is set at 2272 when previously it was higher??
