I think I've read most of the bits on IP profile etc, and as I've only been connected 3 days now I'm assuming that things will improve over the next few days.
I'm signed up for Max, (DSL testing shows no LLU for Orange on my exchange, Was assured of about 4 meg. )
Currently I'm shown with an IP profile of 2000k I get 1900d/l in tests and 466 u/p .
My question is this, should I be trying to download masses to push my system and thereby get the profile to click up to the next level? Or does the 10 day testing work in isolation and do its own thing?
Also has anybody connected a HP lasserjet 1018 to the Livebox. Printer access is shown as on, the live box identifies the printer and gives full details, but shows usb 0?. I've tried both HP deskjet and print server to no avail.
Ref profile I would leave it alone and see what it is like at end of ten days. I would also leave the router on and don't keep rebooting it or the sytem will think there is a fault and drop the profile down.
How much you do or don't use the bandwidth makes no difference to the profile system so there's no need to go on a mass downloading spree unless you want to.
The downstream rate is what you want to be looking at to see what speed you can get. For a 4 meg connection you need the downstream rate (found in the livebox system info page or on the BT speedtest results page) to be 4544kbps or greater. Ideally you want it a few hundred greater to ensure it'll be able to ride out the normal minor signal fluctuations.
