If it is not an fsmail.net account and if you exceeded the "account timeout time limit" by not dialling in, then I guess that all they will do is refer you to the account terms and conditions, specifically the bit about dialling in within the time limit, or else you lose the account.
The whole point of people complaining is Orange never gave anyone any warning not even people that regularly dial up hence Orange breaking their own T & C's and restoring all the accounts.

I get the impression from all this that Orange almost certainly do not perform "risk assessments" on a number of their procedures.
Risk assessments are normally associated with procedures that could cause harm to employees/environment/public. Orange probably failed to do this when somebody decided to press the delete button.
I don't think stupidity came into it but lack of knowledge almost certainly did.

I have had a similar experience. After ten+ years via Freeserve, Wanadoo & now Orange, I logged on one day to find that I couldn't access my account. Sent an email to Tech Support and the reply was "unfortunately the account has been deleted"! I work in IT & know that they must keep backups of the mail servers - we regularly restore deleted accounts - so they could do so if they wanted, but they don't. The reason for deletion I feel is irrelevant, if it's in the Ts & Cs then sobeit, but surely they should warn customers before deleting their account? It's only good customer service after all.
Since earlier this afternoon when they announced that they can supply landline+mobile+broadband+earache+heartache+headache+paininthea$$+heart attacks.......you name it Orange can supply it.....that's good customer service in the 21st Century.

Sounds about right! Time to send a letter (Registered) to Mr Olaf Swantee.
I am going to ask about the Freedom Of Information act regarding my account and the information stored on it and the Data Protection Act regarding keeping my information safe.
I am going to pursue this with vigor now, they have ignored my emails now they will have to try and ignore the law which is on our side, lets see who has the last laugh (Porbably them I guess!)
All I can say is they are a bunch of useless t**sers who if I met them in the street I would walk the other side for fear of catching the ignorant illness that they have and if they were attacked I might actually help the attackers sorry to say!
I now have all my old emails and contacts back, what a relief!!!
Thanks goes to zygotic for whatever was done, it is now back online and I have moved everything onto my pc for safe storage, I had over 1300 emails waiting for me, mostly junk but lots of important stuff too and I now have my tickets for our wedding anniversay to see War Of The Worlds.
The end of my saga has now finally happened, I can only hope others have now also got their emails back ok?
Thank you all for your support, I am now steering well away from any Orange product including non internet products, sorry to say Orange this is one customer you have lost totally, remember Orange, you only exist due to the customers you have, treat them poorly and they will leave, there is plenty of competition around, so beware!
I will still look on this forum to see how you are all progressing.
Thanks again.
Regards from a very relieved person!
Cheers

Thats great stevec I know how you feel , now get all your mail off there and move to a different provider, if they do it once they will more than likely do it again!
State the obvious why don't I, but I was affected by this. Thought at first it was because I complained about the amount of spam and email blacklisting from mis-use of my email address by others (you see the out of office autoreplys, etc).
Anyway, back on, and whatever, but now don't seem to be getting any email through except for spam! I have a friend (on my allowed list) who often sends the typical joke emails - not received any since before my account was shut off. Also, sent email to my account from a googlemail account, and don't receive that either!
So, maybe it was down to the complaint after all? Who knows, but I'm sure I'll have forgotten someone important to notify of the new one, and now missed out on an important email.
Any constructive thoughts welcome - as well as the usual moans we all have, know and love!
Maybe you are not getting as much spam or emails as you emails from friends as the emails to your account were bounced back to the originator and their computer thought that the email address did not exist anymore and wiped it off the server (Thats in the case of spam that is!)
The same has happened to me, I dont have much spam coming through at all on that account but I am guessing if I keep it the spam will increase, hence I am not going to use it anymore. for sending but will keep it open for a while just in case I miss a email from a friend who has not got my new address.
Hi,I’ve never experienced such bad services both customer care and technical support until I signed up with Orange.
As I got attractive information from Orange shops, it was like you provide internet also 100 countries free phone call through the so-called Livebox. Then I signed up with Orange on 15th, Oct 2007.i received Livebox after one week but broadband never comes to me.
There were loads of calls to Orange broadband customer support but they never help me just keep telling to wait for another week and another week.
On Thursday 15th, Nov, I asked a day off from work, thinking I must sort my broadband problem out with Orange today so I was sitting down at my laptop and going to follow the advices from technical support team. However, I couldn’t hide my anger when the call ceter lady said again ‘…I don’t know what’s happened, could you call us back next Monday?.. I understand you but you need to call us back on next Monday ...’. I admit that I was angry and no longer nice to call centre staff, I asked them to get me through to somewhere and somebody who can really doing something for me today. They finally gave me another no. which was a little bit more effective as I eventually got MS. Katherine from SPT team she promised me she would call my mobile on Monday about 4:30pm see what's going on and she confirmed my mobile no.
Funny story happened again, she never called me next day.
I am so tired to make any phone which is useless. I have had it enough, Please Orange, stop fooling your poor customers and keeping your promises. This is a big shame and funny story in Telcom industry. I doubt Orange, can you really manage to do broadband marketing?
