Hi, let me explain the situation a bit.
I play online games quite excessively, high latency is not the way to go.
So, when the ping gets a little high usually switching the frequency/channel in configuration.adsl sorts it out. But last time I tried this the whole connection went kaput.
The livebox would be detected, but the adapter would not connect to it, an error stating something like "The connection to your livebox has failed" and soon after the livebox would disappear from the list. (or appear with a yellow ? next to it)
I changed the frequency (in the adpater settings, it won't allow me to connect to configuration.adsl) back to what it was, and the problem persists.
I've called the customer support (bloody useless foreigners :\) who told me to push a few buttons on the livebox, and the problem is still there.
Any advice? (I don't have the installation CDs, seem to have lost them)
Perhaps reinstalling the adapter (it's an Inventel adapter) would help, but like I say I lost the CDs somewhere.
Thanks for any assistance, it's driving me insane.
Move the livebox over to the PC and connect up the ethernet cable. You should then be able to access the config pages and change the channel number. Test it wirelessly while nearby so you can view the config before you move it back to where it was.
Signal problems can be a headache, especially if it's due to interference or other routers in the area in use.
Right thanks, hardwired it to the computer and was able to get into the router settings and change the channel back to what it was previously, the adapter was recieving the livebox signal again after.
However now all I get is a signal to the livebox, and am unable to connect to the internet. Having looked in the settings for the livebox under "My Services" it tells me that Internet: Enable, Phone over ADSL: Disable and liveprinter: Enable; is the Phone over ADSL anything to do with it?
Also under the Internet settings it says Status: Synchronised and You are currently Disconnected from the Internet, with no options to connect, only to disconnect and reconnect (which does nothing)
Synchronised means it's not logged in. Make sure the button at the bottom says disconnect (meaning it's currently in the connected state) and re-enter your username and password above before hitting validate. That should sort it out.
