Ahh yes, we've had Three perfect perfect months of Orange broadband. Everything worked as it was suppost to, even at the speeds stated (well just under but I wasnt expecting it anyway) Unfortunatley the signs have started coming.
Two weeks ago, we had to do the first ever restart of the livebox (unplugging and plugging backin is what I define as a restart).
All went back to normal for a few hours, then of course (this might be a vista thing actually) Around midnight, or one am, my wireless connection gets disconnected, to the point of me having to restart the pc for it to even see the wireless networks (could be vista... but what caused the disconnect) I now have to do this every night, at least once.
We also now get momentary blips where the livebox appears to loose all form of connection and dignity and promptly disconnects itself for a split second, enough time to screw up the connections forcing programs to be reopened.
OH! and did I not mention, we now have to restart the router routinley? as in, every day?
We loose the wireless connections (even the hard line wont connect) and then we can see the connections there, but we can't connect. Pick up the IP Phone and then youll notice theres no dial tone.
I am at a loss as to see why the livebox has started doing this. All I've done is open a couple of ports. But I am, at a loss. So any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Or should I just spend a fortune on a wireless N gateway?
I don't suppose there's any pattern to when it loses connection?
Does restarting the PC help? Disconnecting and reconnecting the connection?
Sounds like it's a problem with the livebox if the talk service goes as well really.
not really, only when i actually need the connection lol although it does have a tendancy to not like midnight or 1 am (millenium bug methinks)
From what im reading most of the dropouts are due to a huge vista bug thats gunna be fixed in SP1, however the livebox had to be rebooted yet again today when i got home from work becase it had just frozen... locked... totally and utterly, and of course, IP phone attached to it didnt work.
Getting a tad sick of it
BTW
nhyder -- only just opened the ports for a few things i've been doing latley, i.e. a couple of games. These dont seem to be contributing factors in any way shape or form, they shouldnt be at any rate
