I have (stupidly) only just signed up to Orange, after 5 days i had the ppp error and eventually got it fixed after nearly a month of writing and telephone calls. i was annoyed but thought its working so i guess its better than nothing. another 5 days passed and bam! exactly the same thing. tech support trying to fob me off with the usual rubbish and the so called 'personal' letters with direct numbers go through to departments that have never heard of the person im trying to contact. sooo glad i chose Orange now.
If you check the other posts on this problem, some have resolved it by connecting up another router, making a successful connection then reverting back to the Livebox which then magically seems to work !
Perhaps they ought to rename it a Black Magicbox ?

I had exactly the same problem with my 'deadbox', it went on for 4 months, the damn thing would get the PPP Server down message, after numerous phone calls it would start working, then 4 or 5 days later, BAM - same problem.
Do what I did.....tell them they're in breach of contract due to them not providing you with a service that you are paying for and that you want out, at no cost to you. If they won't then threaten ISPA/OfCOM. I had to go through all this, but they cancelled the account at no cost to me. 10 days later and I was on BE who are such a breath of fresh air...see my post "Do I need a MAC?"
Over the last week I have phoned Orange tech help line to fix my ppp server down problems, as reported by several posts the conversation each time is a repeat, reset live box, activate, result ppp server down, orange solution do yet another line test, how many line tests are you going to do I ask after the fourth one, greeted with (from the script) are you happy with the solution today and is there any thing else I can help you with - yes you can fix my problem, phone again in 48 hours for the result of your line test, and so it goes on. I then like others reconnected my old modem got on line disconnected and reconnected my live box and "hey presto" phone and internet working again, perhaps Orange tech help should add this possible solution to their script !!!
Even i got the same ppp serever down problem. I installed my old speed touch software (came with BULLDOG broadband), connencted to the old modem. Its strated working fine again..Still i am continuing with old modem..not live box..
