Well, I had a HUGE hoohah with Orange about Three/four months back, basically its the same old story, we were on the 8 meg thing, it was absolutely useless, I ended up e-mailing that Eric Abensur and got a prompt reply from one of the Orange UK Customer Relations Specialists, who was very helpful and eventually she confirmed in an e-mail (which I still have copies of) that I was free to use to the migration code provided, and that NO cancellation fee would be provided. In short, the livebox was sent back and we migrated to BT (which is fantastic, btw)
So today, ( Three months later) I've just received a letter from Orange requesting £129!! Are they joking? I've called and tried to explain that I hold EVIDENCE that their charges have been waived, but this didn't seem to have any bearing on the matter,
Waiting on a call back from the writer of the e-mail who in Orange's defence did seem to know what she was talking about.. Are they getting so hard up from their lack of customers that they're trying every trick in the book to make money now??
ORANGE - SEE YOU IN COURT, IL BRING THE E-MAIL FROM YOUR COMPANY SAYING MY CHARGES HAVE BEEN DROPPED. LOL!
Don't worry - you have clear proof from Orange that they waived all fees.
This isn't the first time this scenario has happened and won't be the last no doubt.
Someone posted on here saying Orange were demanding money from them, long after they had cancelled.
My view is that the more people who register a complaint with OFCOM and ISPA the better.
This will help collect proof as to how low down Orange can go in attempting to take money off people for literally no service provided.
Technically they might screw you over in that the charge might not be a cancellation fee, rather, paying out the rest of your contract. However, depending on the wording of the mail then its reasonable to say it was misleading and the charges should be waived. Either way, you need to contact OFCOM about this and sort it out.

I wouldn't worry you clearly have proof that your cancellation fee (remaining contract) was waived, its just a shame the departments havn't quite got the knack of communicating with each other.

Hi sweeperdog,
When i left last year August 2006 as Orange made it as awkward for me to leave as possible i had to go to the ISPA from which i got a letter off an Orange customer relations specialist and a number to contact who was very helpful and made sure i got my MAC, she asked me to ring her once my migration away went through so she could cancel my account so i wont get billed after which i did but i never got anything in writing, i suppose it might have changed now.
Btw i was out of contract by a few years.
