I travel with my work and when I used to log on through differing ISP's to send my Orange mail I tended to get differing error messages, but one this IS now consistent - Orange now fails to accept all of my outgoing messages anymore. It now tells me that every message I send has failed to be accepted by the recipient's server/address. It seems the whole internet world is out of step except Orange!
These past few weeks I have been unable to send anything. In the past when at my partner's (ISP Virgin.net) I used to set my SMTP setting to smtp.orange.net. At my parents' (ISP Orange.co.uk) it was smtp.orange.co.uk. At a friend's with an ISP of BT.com in despair I eventually typed in my Orange e-mail address into Internetfrog.com e-mail verification page and it gave me the SMTP of smtp-in.orange.net. Confusing? I had to change the SMtp settings
wherever I used to log on!
I have written to Orange numerous times and each answer is like an automated response neither dealing with my problem or being remotely helpful in any shape or form. I would like to keep my Orange address as it is very memorable, but clients are confused when my e-mails have the signature of Orange but are sent via my secondary (and rock solid) Gmail account.
Any Orange bods out there willing to spill the beans and tell me what the hell is going on and why are Orange so crap after selling out to the Germans and French?

If you are sending emails through a different ISP you need to use that ISP's smtp servers to send as most of them block port 25 but you can recieve your Orange email as usual that isnt effected.

Thanks sweeperdog, that appears to work, I'll add it to the long list of Orange SMTP servers that I have a choice of to write in Outlook settings before I send any mail!
Are you telling me that whatever ISP I am on (including ISP's abroad as I travel) I have to use their SMTP addresses? Is there is worldwide list of all SMTP's per ISP? Would the problem be solved if Orange didn't use Port 25?

Im not sure about abroad but in UK if you use whatever ISP your connecting from ie:Virgin or Zen say you should use that ISP's smtp servers to send you can use Oranges to receive, Like if someone non Orange was using your connection to send an email from their own address they would have to use Oranges smtp servers.
Whatever ISP your connected to and dont know the smtp server address look on their support page on their site they are usually there.
