Well having finally dumped Orange I thought that I would no longer have
to have any dealings with them. Wrong - they keep ringing me up and
saying that my new IP hasn't fully completed the MAC process in
accordance with industry published procedures and therefore I am still
technically an Orange customer and will be so until 30 days after the
MAC process is finally completed to their satisfaction and of course I
owe them loads of dosh.
My new IP has confirmed that they have followed the procedure in this
respect to the letter and added that this is a typical Orange stunt.
I guess that if this is a scam to rip of exiting customers by an
extra few bucks then it really stinks even by Orange standards.

LOL typical of Orange it really isnt doing their reputation any good will they ever learn? going by the last year and their staff posting on most forums trying to defend deleting freeserve email addresses with their attitude i think it will make things worse watch this space.

It absolutley amazes me the depths that Orange sink to in order to try and get more money off people.
They are just a money grabbing organisation that doesn't care how they get it!

Well the latest is that since the date of my migration Orange have debited my closed broadband account for two months subscription fees plus two late payment fees and are now threatening me with legal action if I don't pay up.
My new IP has been in touch to confirm that they have followed industry proceedures required to effect a successful migration and have offered to confirm this in writing for me if so required.
As I have been out of contract with Orange for at least a couple of years I wonder if this letter would this be sufficient to win against Orange in the County Court or if there is some other data that I could aquire that would win the day for me.
If you haven't done so already Jerry then report your case immediately to OFFCOM and ISPA.
If you get no reply then report them until you do.
This a is a good way to get Orange to back off and follow procedures usually.
Without anyone above them they just go round ripping people off and threatening them.
Also cancelling the direct debit to them will stop them taking anymore money from you. They cannot take money legally or take legal action against you when they do not have a contract with you.
If they take the money off a debit or credit card then cancel that card with your bank and get a new one issued.
As you have moved to a new ISP it means you no longer have a contract with Orange.
Your new ISP will provide you with proof of following procedures regarding the MAC etc.
Orange seem to think they can do what they want and break the rules and law.
Basically they cannot and the sooner they realise the better - hence OFFCOM's involvement to remind them.

I have already cancelled my DD with Orange which I suspect is most of
the problem that they have with my migration. I guess if I hadn't done
that then they would have continued to take payments from my bank until
I finally realized what was happening. When you look at the national
polls carried out for IP performance then Orange are very much the
bottom feeders of the industry so I guess I shouldn't be surprised at
their actions. But what a bunch of low life they are and just operating
a fag papers separation away from blatant criminality as they do I just
wonder how it is that they recruit new victims so easily. You would
think that the adverse publicity surrounding their empty promises of
great service and free hardware that is anything but great or free
respectively would put people off signing up to them. Anyway I will
certainly report Oranges activities in this respect to the industry
regulators as you suggest Andy.
Criminal is a good word to describe Orange Jerry.
How the hell they aren't investigated baffles me!
I keep saying it on here but this is 2007 and companies that take money without providing anything, threaten, lie, rob, cheat etc need to be punished or closed down.
