Lo all

Im on 8meg (ahaha) connection, 380m from the Newington exchange, Edinburgh.

Getting 0.5 meg speeds, max, disconnects quite often. Heres my router stats:

Type : Interleave
Noise margin (dB) : 12.8
Attenuation (dB) : 14.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 10464

Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 8096 448

and my BT speedtest results:

IP profile for your line is - 7000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8096 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1066 kbps

aaaand finally my speedtest.net results:

down - 408 kbps
up - 216 kbps

(theyre always around this number, highest ive seen down was 1024, not sure about up)

Samknows and DSL ZoneUK both state my exchange (Newington) is not Orange LLU enabled. So presumably this is an adslmax issue- or is it possible my exchange isnt listed as Orange llu while, in fact, it is? If anyone could make heads or tails of this and advise me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks but no thanks to simply 'unlucky mate, orange are poo poo' comments. Not that i disagree but its such a depressing response Smile

You're not on LLU, you can run a BT speedtest and have an upstream sync of 448 which can't happen on LLU connections so it's ADSL Max.

The BT speedtest shows pretty much all the main info needed for this. Full 8 meg interleaved sync rate and practically the maximum profile you can get so stability doesn't appear to be too much of a problem.

If you've tried it over a wired connection with the same results never really going over 1000 downstream then it sounds like there is some problem. Best do 2-3 more BT speedtests and then call Orange to get them to log a fault.

BTW That BT test gave you a higher than 1024 downstream result, just. Wink
