They have wiped a full years worth of emails with subscription accounts, etc.
Now I cant gain access to anything at all!!! i have had this account for over 9 years now its uesless!
I just tried to change a business account I use all the time to a new address, now that does not work, probably because an email have been sent to my Freeserve account that now does not exist stating I have to click on that email to change the account, what a disaster and now I look at it my life will be hell for ages to come thanks to Orange!
All I have to say is they are a buch of complete t*ssers who dont know how to treat people, I never asked for Orange to take over my Freeserve account, they said that the account would be safe, how can this be happening!!!!!
I could gain access yesterday, come this morning I could not, no warning email nothing, at least BTYahoo sent a warning to me and now I access that account every 30 days by dial-up even though I am on Broadband, why cant Orange do the same and give a warning?
I dont have their stupid home site as a homepage I have google so posting something on their Orange homepage (probably buried like all their help pages are) is a waste of time and to cap it all, I have been getting so much Spam from them that sending me a warning would have gone straight into that the deleted box, and when you get 300+ a day I am not going to check them all!
I am going to keep an eye on this, if anyone gets some success let us know, they have to do something about this mess they have created.
This phone number has probably been posted already. But people are still posting problems, so it might be useful.
You can ring the Dial-up customer support department on 09062 517 517, choose option 2 for account and bill questions.
I rang them and a helpful guy checked my account and the expiry dates. The problem is that account renewals now last 219 days rather than the old 90 days. However account suspension kicks in at 260 days. You need to keep an eye on the dates because emails will continue to be delivered after the 219 days, so the cut off date can catch people out. Orange have not been promoting this new feature very much.
I have just wasted £8 and 16 mins of my life talking to an Indian woman who had no idea what to do to help me even after I told her I make computers and repair then etc and am not stupid,
She made me make a new profile for Outlook Express even though my old profile worked fine before this mess started and had never changed, then I had to restart the pc in the vain hope it would work, which as you may guess it did not, then she tried to make me reinstall Internet Explorer, well sorry but that was the end of that call, I was not going to sit around making anymore money for Orange when clearly its their problem.
She did say to me "Your account was ok" and that I dialled in today to my dial-up account, yes I did and that was after I could not gain access to my email via the webmail account, "So it is ok then" I said, she said "Yes it is, its not be deactivated" then I said "I had heard that accounts are being wiped" she said "Yes they are so it would be good to remove my information off it" that really got me mad, I said "You dont understand do you, I cant get access to the email from anywhere" "I am sure you will be able to after the pc has started again" came the reply back.
Not amused going to get the data protection act guys to sort it out now and Ofcom too.
As regards to Orange not promoting this change in expiry times etc that is apalling, BTYahoo sent me an email reminder so why cant stupid f**king Orange, I know the last time I reactivated my account was not more than 200 days ago so why have they dumped me?
Please respond to ******* (Edit by admin: Orange emailed asking that we remove this email address as it is not for public use!)
Dear Mr ***********,
Thank you for your email addressed to Mr Olaf Swantee, Chief Executive
Officer, Orange. Olaf has asked me to respond on his behalf keeping him
informed of the actions being taken.
I am sorry to learn of the problems you have experienced when trying to
access your Orange email account. Unfortunately, as you are now aware
Orange policy states that if an email account has not been used for 260
days then the accounts are automatically deleted. I would like to take
this opportunity to apologise if the communications we have sent regarding
email accounts did not make this process more clear. After reviewing this
process and the feedback received from customers in a similar position, we
are currently in the process of putting a technical fix in place.
Your details have been passed to our Technical Department and we are doing
everything possible to retrieve your email address, however at this stage
I cannot guarantee whether or not this will be possible. If this is
possible you will be contacted when the issue is resolved, however you can
also visit our website at www.orange.co.uk to set up another free email
account. I will now be taking ownership of this issue and I will contact
you personally when I have any further update on this situation.
Please once again accept my apologies for the inconvenience that this has
caused and I trust the above is satisfactory.
Yours sincerely

Though I had to recall Orange today as nobody had got back to me as they had promised, I have been told that my account will be reinstated within the next 7 days, if this happens I will be more than happy and hopefully not put myself in the same situation again.
You do realise that if they do manage to retrieve your email then all of the emails and contacts will have already been deleted off of it? Theres no point really to be honest. 7days Davew to reinstate it? Where did you find that information out what agent did you speak to? I spoke to someone called ameila on dial up support and she told me that not to get my hopes up, also my mams account has deleted both ou bb with Orange as it just was not possible to retriev all the accounts and only get sorted if logegd by agents and you all know what they are like! lol. Who are oange technical people on here debbiec?

Well just from the way some of the earlier replies are written, and what other people who use this site have told me, i assumed some defensive responses on here were coming from Orange technical staff who were trying to have their say. Because some of your replies earlier on were quite negative and hopelss (which was what i meant really, when I said boring), I also thought you may be one of the Orange people. I apologise for any offence caused and am sorry if i was rude. I hope everyone gets their emails rightly restored so they can make a copy before the account is deleted again.
dont worry about it i can understand why i just looked on the negative side as as you know with Orange from previous problems nothing can get resolved. even though my bb is with them and has never had any problems they have to make a problem somewhere. No i dont work for Orange i wouldnt be in the job long as i dont lie to people and that is in the job description for Orange i reckon
the future's bright the future's Orange - ISIT F*CK
iv just been f*cked up the @rse!!! Thanks to Orange!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant log in to my email, says account is not valid and deleted all my emails to go along with it!
ORANGE i hope you are reading this you are a bunch of CO*K sucking W*NKERS! HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO PEOPLE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just received this message below from one of my Domain companies, regarding their warning system for renewing my details with them. Why on earth are Orange so irresponsible and why didnt they put proper procedures in place like the company below has done???
Write and ask them...
''If your domain name is registered with us we will send you renewal notices by email which will be clearly marked as having come from us. These emails contain a link to the renewal page. Reminders are sent 2 Months in advance, 1 Month, 2 Weeks, 1 Week and on the day of Expiry.''
I also have lost my email account with several years of use meaning the loss of a lot of contacts I am sure (including work leads).
Orange no longer want to host a free email site and while they should honour freeserves commitments (having bought the company) it is a thorn in their 'corporate side'.
They could not legally just close all these accounts but they have come as close as they think is legally possible by changing the terms and conditions, but only posting this on their website and not contacting each member individually. This is their weakest position legally.
Secondly they changed the manner in which the accounts were kept active very subtly and in such a way no one would actually know until it was too late. Previously you knew when to reactivate an account because you could no longer log on, this was changed (as I say without notification other than on their website) so that it continued to work during the period in which it needed to be renewed (only no one knew!).
Apparently everyone's accounts were changed the same day and so everyone fell foul of the same sting and in one fell swoop nearly every account was closed (and no one can warn anyone else).
Clever in a way but totally dishonourable and of course many people will have suffered for supporting freeserve at a time they were trying to compete with Hotmail.
I suspect what they have done is illegal or morally unacceptable to the regulators but who can afford to take them to task. If someone does start a class action or some joint complaint then they have my full support (and please contact me). Meanwhile I am going to follow ‘Danfoxes’ footsteps!
