and we aren't getting this MAC code because they don't want us to leave!!
Steve is right they HAVE to give you your MAC within five days, dont waste any more time and get stressed, just send an email (if you have access to an account) saying you are officially requesting your MAC code and you are fully aware of the OFCOM ruling, unless you recieve it in five days from such & such a date you ARE making an official complaint to OFCOM and the ISPA.
This worked for me and exactly five days later I received my code via email, never once did I pick up the phone, I dont see why I should have to get hassled!

ok. thanks for your help. its really hard not to get frustrated with them, ive put in a complaint on the online ispa form and will wait for a response.
