When I joined up to Orange I asked them if they could explain their fair usage policy to me. The guy couldnt and went onto mumble something about if my neighbour was downloading at the same time during peak times then I might want to limit myself ?!? I then asked if I would receive notification if my usage was bordering on the unfair and was told "most definitely sir". 6 weeks into my contract and i was unable to access my favorite file sharing site, however i was able to with a different router. Once I put the livebox back on the line I was blocked again. As I use the livebox for the phone too the only way forward was to reset the livebox to it factory settings, once done I could access the site. However every 4-5 days I would get blocked again. 4 weeks of this and I am now blocked from the internet during peak times. Orange support insist its a fault with the BT line, me I never heard of a fault so specific.
Now my Bitclient is being blocked while the livebox is on . I have to change routers to get my downloading going. Site and bit client issues only when the livebox is connected?? I am starting to wonder what is in the "updates" orange keep sending to my livebox.
Well my experience of livebox when my download speed was < 100kbps (i.e. not much quicker than dialup) with my netgear was that the livebox wouldn't even synch at all?
I guess you want to use VOIP? I think there is a way of hanging the livebox off the netgear to do this
They don't update liveboxes that much. There's a firmware update currently around every 6 months or so. We're probably due another one soon at that rate.
Have you setup port forwarding for your bittorrent client as that can drastically effect the connectivity and therefore speed you can get with it?
Hmm, well it's not the livebox itself unless it's losing some of the settings. Could be some form of filtering or traffic shaping but I've not heard anything about that.
