For the last month, I have been experiencing connection speeds of less than 1mb regardless of the fact we are actually paying top dollar for their 8mb max/unlimited package.
After calling Orange technical support on a number of occasions, I have been advised repeatedly that it is due to Orange upgrading/changing servers and that all will be well from the 30th June. Well, I'm afraid it's not.
I am getting download speeds of 70kb/s TOPS. That's every hour of every day, it doesn't peak higher during the night or early morning either.
I'm sick of the way Orange treats its customers like second class citizens, especially as we were actually paying MORE than their most expensive package after being changed from the Wanadoo days.
Oh and for Christs sake, get rid of your Indian call centres will you? I'm sick and tired of hearing someone reel off a badly put together script that has nothing at all to do with the problem I'm experiencing.
i have had the same problem "read 1 of Orange's favourite lies topic" except i am geting different lies from them, they are telling me its my line when as u can see in the other topic it isnt anything to do with my line, i think because you have to physically go into the livebox settings page to find out your connection speed they think they can just lower your speed without you noticing, i am also sick of the indian call center, i told them i was using vista and they went on to tell me how to get to the network connection settings via XP, lucky enough i know my computers and gt to the page they where trying to send me to, but every time i phone, all i get is "reset ur livebox etc" "oh we will do a line test" "are you happy with this"
NO i am NOt happy with this as you still havnt fixed my problem all i get is lies about my line only handling a 1mb line, and im not even gettin a 1mb connection!! its current 608kbps downstream, oh the fury!

I am supposed to recieve up to 8 meg yet the max i can get is 30kbps. If anyone is reading this then someone please help as i have clearly made the biggest mistake coming to Orange. I have never been on the receiving end of such bad service. The indian call centres have been designed to further annoy us. Everytime i have spoken to them i have ended up cursing him/her to hell. This is not fair and not acceptable.
I have been Orange since January 07, and my speed was fine. For the last 3 months i have noticed that my dl speeds have dropped drastically! I can get up to 7.5mb on my telephone line, but i am only getting less than 1mb for the last 3 months.
I have been phoning / emailing customer services since i noticed the problem and each time i have to explain the problem. Each time they give me a different excuse for the slow speeds. First they told me that the engineers were aware of the problem and that i have to just wait for them to fix it, then they told me i had to reset my livebox. After phoning Orange about 50 times! Almost daily! I finally got through to a CS person who understood what i was saying and agreed that the speeds i am receiving are ridiculous! So he said that he would arrange a line test and that i should reset the livebox after 24- 48 hours and call back after that if i dont see an improvement. So i did, only to be told that the test had been cancelled because i didnt ring back after 24HOURS! That was this morning and i am now seriously f#*ed off!!!!!!! The woman told me that i would just have to wait for the speed to improve! and that there was nothing wrong with the line, just that because so many people are signing to Orange and thats why its slow!
Sorry had to get that all out, i am so p*ssed off! My contract doesnt end until Feb 08!! £19.99 a month for less than 1mb and i cant use the talk cos the connection is so slow!
CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ANY ADVISE????? I AM STARTING TO LOSE IT!
Anyway, my speed test results are below, dl speed averages at about 488kb/s

You can dispute with them that they are in breach of contract if they can't or won't sort it out, ive seen posts on here of people asking for their MACs and then they seem to get a response to try and fix the problem.

I have called Orange and asked them for my MAC code, and they told me that if i cancel my account i would have to pay the rest of my contract. They have not rsponded by trying to fix the problem, i have now transferer this conract to my business phone line and address so that i can change to anothr provider,
Any recommendations, i have been told BT is good, Be* is not available in my area.

i would recommend IDNet english support and free, ukfsn and ADSL24 all with a rolling 1 month contract, i would steer clear of the big providers check the ISP ratings here and check their relevant forums Here to see what customers have to say about them, also IDNet and ADSL24 also have their own forums which can be reached from their websites

That shows you're on an ADSL Max connection. As this isn't directly controlled by Orange, depending on the line stats, you could very well get exactly the same speeds with a new ISP. If you migrate to another ADSL Max connection ISP then that chance goes up even more.
