A friend of mine has moved from Orange to Sky and when he is connected directly to the router he gets speeds of up to 12.5Mb but on wireless just speeds of 0.6Mb. He's had no luck with Support from Sky and was wondering if anyone here knew what the problem may be and how it could be fixed? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi
Check what speed your actual wireless connection to the router is 54.0 Mbps is average. Is your wireless adapter/card drivers up to date? sometimes uninstall the driver reboot and reinstalling the driver can help i had a similar problem a while back, then do another speed test.

He probably has a very poor wireless signal, resulting in poor transfer speeds.
He could probably improve things by trying the router in different positions (the higher up the better). The signal deteriorates quite sharply when passing through walls or ceilings particularly when there are lots of embedded cables and pipes
