I just recently upgraded to Orange broadband max package, since then I have been getting slow speeds etc, the problem is im in a contract with Orange and I didn't realise. my question is, is it possible to get a MAC if your in a contract with Orange, if there giving you slow speeds?
Ive just rang them up and they said if I want a MAC then I have to pay a cancellation fee! I then said I want to cancel because im getting slow speeds and that im not happy with the service, so they told me to ring technical suuport so they can do a line test.
Standard reply......what have you done to identify your problem ?
Don't assume that Orange can identify it for you especially by doing a line test.
Exactly when were you put on MAX ?
Have you run http://www.speedtest.net/ ?
Have you posted your router stats ?

What should i do?
They have to give you a MAC within 5 working days wether your still in a contract or not its the law they cannot refuse.

As Steve has said it is a legal requirement. Ask them for a MAC and tell them that the issue of the outstanding contract and cancellation fee are separate issues. If they still do not give you a MAC tell them that you are lodging a complaint with OFCOM for non-compliance of OFCOM regulations.
When did you request the change/when did you notice any change to the speed?
Can you do a BT speedtest and if so what are the results?
What does the ADSL Section of System Information on the livebox pages show? (Or line stats for another modem/router)
its not so much slow speeds, i can just get disconnected randomly (which is really annoying when your on the net) or my connection can run really slow, im sure its nothing to do with me, ive checked my router and all the settings are correct and when i cant access the net it says its connected on my router, but my pc says its just connected locally, its really starting to get annoying now, i dont know what to do as im in a contract with Orange and I dont want to pay the cancellation fees.

How are you connecting to your router, wired or wireless?
Can you access the router when the internet goes down?
What does it say about the connection status?
What router is it and do the lights change when it stops working?
As before when did you request and first notice the change?
Line stats from the router, margin, attenuation, upstream and downstream connection speeds?

1. I have 2 pcs and one laptop, the main pc is hooked up to the router via ethernet and the other 2 are wireless.
2. I can access the router when the internet goes down
3. It says its connected
4. Its a belkin wireless G router, no lights change
5. I requested broadband max a few months ago and since then it has been happening
6. It says the upstream is 448kb and downstream 4224kb
Start > Run, type "cmd" to get a black window and type in:
ping www.google.com
Look for the line starting "Packets", how many were received?
If none try:
ping 216.239.59.147
Again look for how many packets are received.
