good news from me this morning!
got my laptop letter from Orange at 8:30am this morning and was at PC World by 9am ready to collect my laptop! woohoo!!!!
seems like a superb laptop (advent), so it looks like this offer is definitly being honoured but just takes longer than they said it would, i also kept ringing the laptop activation number everyday whilst i was waiting......
Nice to hear the advent laptop is the good one. Thats the one I've gone for... whenever i may get my letter that is!
yup, it is a very good laptop!, the hard drive is 76gb not 100gb but im guessing thats due to the partition used for the restore boot tools etc, the graphics chipset is infact ati radeon 200 which are rated better than the intel chipset advertised but it is shared graphics memory meaning theres only 896mb system memory (ram) out of 1gb available which is a slight downer as vista uses loads of memory to run, will add another 1gb somepoint though,
at the moment i got outlook 2007, word 2007, firefox with 9 tabs open, media player playing music and windows update open with no slowdown at all which is cool, the screen is amazing too, one of the clearest i have seen on a laptop in ages!
overall very pleased but i do think Orange have seriously mucked its new customers around way too much for this deal......
pc world do reserve all laptops ordered on this deal for a minimum of 30 days, you'll see a big Orange sticker on your laptop box when you pick it up saying "laptop reserved for Orange broadband customer", not sure what happens after 30 days if letter hasn't arrived? maybe just let your local PC World know so they know your still waiting,
I know its not that great but I also got works with mine
i forgot to say that i got microsoft works with it too, you also get a few other bits of software too but i already had office 2007 so installed that instead
hi i got access to the internet spot on 10 days after i ordered but now is 15days just received modem but no letter i emailed them a few days ago and they said that they dont send the modem or letter out until u are connected and you will have to wait about 5 days but take in to account the post strike
Pfffft, still not on (20 days), finally got a reply from the email, and... yeh, telling me to phone their expensive number. So fat lot of good telling them the details over email did (its not like their tech support where they can tell me to turn the router on and off again). Bah, I'll phone up tommorow morning, if they can't give me a half decent answer I'll cancel my sub there and then.
