what date was your broadband turned on ? Offically ? ?
I don't know? It has been on since Tuesday 31/7/07. When I rang Orange on 1/8/07 they gave me Friday 3/8/07 as the activation date. On Monday they still had me listed as not activated. On Tuesday evening I had a call from a guy at Orange to check on things. I have heard nothing since.
activited offically on saturday (although it was working on friday) and got my letter today
so i had to wait 4 working day.
I'm pleased to hear that these letters do go out. Now is there anyone in particular to ring at Orange who might be able to get me my letter?
I'm now on Day 19 (signed up 21st).
I have fired off a complaint to the PC World customer service team. Anyone else?

i think in your case johnson65 it is more to do with the activation problem, if it was me i'd ring Orange customer support and ask to speak to a manager, if you say your thinking about cancelling because of all the problems and lack of the laptop confirmation letter, this should scare them into acting (i hope)
then ring the activation line again and demand for a letter to be issued (mention the cancelling thing to them too), this seemed to help me in getting them to do what i asked!
Managed to get a free months broadband out of them... but still no letter. Rang the 0800 number and reordered the letter. This is after other people have assured me the letter will be here and there's no need for me to request a second copy.
Trading standards rang me today but I missed the call! I'll let you all know what they say. Tried to get through to the person who was dealing with my complaint and it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone got any tips to get it sorted?

keep each other updated people
Having tried a few times to get through and ending up in a queue , I guess Orange have been overwhelmed.
Got through to someone who said I would have to wait until tomorrow (5 working days from activation date of Friday 3rd) before I could do any more.
Rang Orange on return from work this afternoon (No letter Day 20).
Their computer system is updating. Asked to ring back in 3-4 hours.
Sounds like you're being fobbed off.....what large company updates their computer system on a Friday afternoon ?........that's normally a dark hours routine.

orange told me the exact same thing yesterday!, to ring back in 3-4 hours as the systems were updating meaning they couldn't check accounts, it's just another stalling tactic imo......
no letter again today, getting very annoyed about this situation!
Not trying to make it worse to you guys but just thought I would tell you about my order status.
I ordered via pcworld on the 23 of July and was activited on 31st of July with Orange. I rang them to tell them so and they checked with BTW to confirm, I was told my account should go live within the next 24hrs, anyway my account did not offically go live till Friday 3rd August and I received my letter on Monday 6th August.

Thought I'd try the 0800 again today. I've got another letter promised. I'm just hoping.
Incidentally the Orange system is still showing my Broadband as inactive. Since it is being used to post this I hardly think so!
Incidentally for anyone's benefit at Orange, as you might have guessed, for my username just add the .orangehome.co.uk to the johnson65. You have royally p***ed off a customer. 710 days to go till I ring for a MAC.

So it seems the first people who signed up (i signed up on 19th july) are a bit stuck in regards to getting the letter! Spoke to Nicky Savage again today i'll let you know if i get any where. Also got trading standards looking at this all for me.
Hello everyone, this is my first post, although its not regarding what i visited the site for.
Im already an Orange customer, and (you will like this) a PC World employee, if anyone is having problems recieving thier Orange letter there is no point complaining to PC World, they are no power to get the letter sent to you.
Also you shouldnt be complaining about how PC World will try to sell you AV and other attachments for your laptop, as from experience you will be returning to the store within a week laptop in hand saying 'its got a virus' or 'it didnt come with a case!' As most people who are taking advantage of the offer are new laptop users.
Im not defending eithor PC World or Orange, i think its a rubbish idea and wish both companies had kept away from each other.

Well yes i would have brought a case or something maybe... but as Orange are that incompentent i have had so many probelms becuase of them. PC World sold the offer should be aware i have had problems and not try to cross sell. I see PC World just as responsible as Orange as PC World entered the contract to sell the offer... so just as much to blame me thinks...

i haven't actually said anything bad about PC World!, the contract we have all signed up for is with Orange not PC World meaning its Orange who are dealing with the laptop offer and its their responsibility to provide the service and contract they advertised within a reasonable time scale, pc world do still have to offer the service they sold you meaning they should get involved when problems arise?!?
i have a feeling that its PC World getting blamed from the customers when its Orange that should be sorting things, pc world have been very good to me in the past and specially on the current situation, wish the same could be said for Orange!!!
i do think PC World do try to over sell various products to its customers, extra warranty, extra software and accessories you don't even need!, experienced pc users know how to protect themselfs online without splashing out more money,
