In the Manchester area and seem to have noticed within the last fortnight that I am getting disconnected from the internet after 22:00. Weird.
However tonight it dropped, came back and dropped again about 30 minutes ago. I switched off my router and left it for 30 mins, played a game, finished and switched on the router and finally got back online.
Anyone else suffering these disconnections at this late hour?
In fact as I write, the DSL light went out on my router and tried reconnecting...FRUSTRATION!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the major cock up when I first upgraded then suffered no issues for a while, now it seems to have returned, works fine during the day. Just after 10PM. Very weird.
Thanks for listening, post back if this is happening to you too.
I have EXACTLY the same problem ever since I was upgraded to 8mb. After around 9:30 pm it will randomly disconnect itself, the time could range between 10 minutes to an hour before disconnection. It really angers me as I do a lot of online gaming during the night which involves playing with other people who are p*ssed at me disconnecting every five minutes.
I'm also in the EXACT same situation! I live in south east london and I have the same problems.. I was upgraded last week to ADSL Max and i've heard somebody say that there is a 10 day 'retraining' period where BT/Orange runs tests on your line to check the maximum stable connection and that is why all of the disconnects happens etc. I used to have disconnects all day, but now its just in the evening and I have bad download speeds and lag spikes so can't play online games.
Did either of you get upgraded recently to MAX? If so, then maybe we just gotta wait it out. I'm praying this is the case.
Thats supposed to be the case with ADSL Max, however to my knowledge Orange aren't publicly upgrading to that yet, only their own LLU system and I don't know if that has the same 10 day system in place.

I don't know - the Wanadoo e-mail of 22 May announcing the upgrade gave no details, saying only: 'Great news. We're making some changes that could mean we can speed up your broadband service - for free.'
But there 'unlimited 8mb' service is called Broadband MAX, doesnt that mean its adsl MAX?
Technically no, as I said Orange don't do ADSL Max yet. However it's practically the same system both able to reach 8 meg, just one uses BT's hardware and the other uses Orange's.

Ok, but then the 10 day 're-training' (testing) period after the upgrade should still be roughly the same procedure for Orange? Therefore all the disconnection problems people have been having this week should ease up next week.. we can hope!

I don't know, although as far as I'm aware there is no 10 day "training" period for Orange's LLU connection.
Hey, i've got my USB modem to be more stable now but I am also have disconnections on 22:00 on the DOT! And then every so often after that until the early morning... =(
