Bad news for Orange and TalkTalk
At the other end of the spectrum are Orange and TalkTalk, which between them have 14% of the market.
Keeping their two million customers happy has proved tricky.
Orange comes last for the second time running with just 65% of customers satisfied. It has seen its satisfaction rating drop 18% over the last 14 months - around the same time that it launched ‘free’ broadband - and experienced a recent blow when the Advertising Standards Authority found it guilty of misleading consumers in its advertising.
They couldnt make a bloody kettle boil never mind make cars lol....
I think its about time they actually came out in public and ADMITTED they have BIG problems.........pointless offering "free laptops" when you cant get online with the bloody thing ! lol .......... of course that "could" be the idea...sign everyone up for 18 months ... wait until they ask to leave then charge them a fortune to do so and then ask for the Laptop back ..... great marketing but lousy ethics eh

Sheeesh !! it makes you wanna scream.
Good point.....has anyone read the small print ?.....if it's a free laptop, does Orange own it for ever.....like the Liveboxes ?
I have not seen any terms regarding the free laptop, the only terms i have seen are the standard Orange one on the website and that is what i have agreed to. As far as i am concerned Orange or PC World can't take it back if i cancel my contract.
It's worth asking Orange to confirm that in writing. I don't see any difference between the laptop status and the Livebox status. Both are free items as a condition of the Broadband contract.
I tend to agree with Nhyder, but has anyone out there actually READ the small print or just "assumed" the laptop is thieirs?
I would suspect if the advert says "once you activate your broadband account" you are then tying yourself into the 18 month contract and similarly tying yourself into the same sort of thing regarding the Laptop, meaning............ if you cancel or leave before the term is up then you lose the hardware as well.
If i recall when i returned my livebox i received a letter stating if i did not return it they would charge £100
SO......................how much is the Lappy worth? and isnt it better to go buy one and do away with being tied into a contract for something that probably will not work?
I know what i would do....
Anyone actually read their terms and conditions then?
Like i have said before the terms and conditions dont say anything about any offers or laptops. The terms are the same as if we signed up to Orange with no freebies.
im not talking about the Orange BROADBAND T&C im talking about the T&C at PC World / Currys when you sign up to Orange... People dont give things away FREE without conditions believe me !
I'm sure that all the people who have signed up have thoroughly checked out all of the T&Cs that apply to the "free" offer...........we are just being sceptical because Orange are involved.......and quite rightly so in my opinion !!
Pc world DONT have any t&c for this offer, if there are some I have not seen them or advised of them and any time which in my eyes means this laptop I am using now is my property and owned by me. When i went in and signed up a sales adviser went onto the Orange homepage and signed me up via that. I assume once I left the store they rang Orange and told them I had signed up with the laptop offer. Everything i have received bar the voucher has the Orange logo on it and the standard Orange terms
Hatton920 mate,
lets hope you dont have the unfortunate situation (as thousands ...and i mean THOUSANDS have) where you get totally and utterly p***ed off with the service, and internet speed you get from Orange, thats if you can connect at all of course, because if you do and decide to leave ....heaven help you.
They will stick it to you big time.
Good Luck with your Laptop ... oh and your internet connection, and i mean that sincerely mate, but in a few weeks, or months ... dont come back and say i didnt warn ya lol
Orange desperation is certainly showing up now as far as i am concerned, and i do suggest you read the T&C slowly and in detail. Can you define "Standard" Orange terms? cos i dont think there is ANYTHING standard about them lol
My internet connection is faster now than it was with PlusNet (I constantly am getting downloads between 6500 and 7000).
By standard terms I mean these as stated to me by email from Orange.

The legal stuff
When you joined you committed to a 18 month agreement. You can cancel before your broadband service is activated (we'll tell you by email when your service is live). Go to www.orange.co.uk/terms to check out the terms of use and to find out more about this and your rights as a customer.
Orange might be bad for you but that does not mean it will be bad for me. My exchange will not be upgraded to LLU as my town to quite small (I believe most Orange problems are related to there own equipment)
Only time will tell if I have problems but as it stands, I am paying £2 less a month for faster internet and a decent laptop I only paid £69 for.
