one which im sure you all have experanced must be the one where you are so pee d of that you ask to speak to a manger
orange call centers must have more managers tha phone staff every one which told me was a manager was either a superviser or a phone monkey
do they not know that when a customer ask to speak to a manager (ie the organ grinder)hes has a right to beput threw or called back by one not to have one of the phone monkeys inform us that they are a manager..........
im a free lance writer working for a local independent news paper and a national one as well
not to mention the fact that when you take broadband with Orange if you have a mobile phone with them it automaticly up grades TO AN 18 MONTH CONTRACT WHICH THEY DO NOT TELL YOU THAT IS BEING UPGRADED
The lies i have had with Orange is unbelievable, im supposed to have an 8mb connection, the line was disconnecting itself, but instead of enabling interleaving and monitoring the stability on the line, they said my line could only handle a 1mb connection, however the speed has further dropped to a 608k connection, now this is a complete lie as i have a friend who works for an isp and he was kind enuff to test the line himself. here are the results
ANFP X - Extra short
Line Length 2170 m
A-Earth Capacitance 149 nF
B-Earth Capacitance 141 nF
Downstream Sync 608 kbps
Downsteam Attenuation 34.0 dB
Downsteam Noise Margin 30.3 dB
Upstream Sync 288 kbps
Upstream Attenuation 36.0 dB
Upstream Noise Margin 26.3 dB
now this line shud easily take an 8mb connection, but not only are they lying, they are still charging me the full price for a line that is 13 times slower than what it should be.
i have tested the line with various routers, microflters and i even took the panal off my phone socket and used the master test socket (i have a NTE5 socket) and i still got all the same information, not to mention i even tried factory resets on all the routers.
cant wait to see what they say about this one when i call.....

"Mr ???, getting a Livebox solves the sort of problems you are encountering in 99% of cases" Result: conned into 12 month contract and no improvement.
"Someone will ring you back"
"We will sort the problem"
"You'll see an improvement in two weeks time"
To be fair I can only say definately that the first was a deliberate lie, although I suspect that the Orange staff making the other comments probably knew they were being optimistic in the extreme.

well i just cant wait to hear the lies what get told to all those new customers conned into a broadband contract by getting a free laptop from PC World
and currys 300 pound of any laptop when taking Orange broads*** in a TWO YEAR CONTRACT..................FOOLS
"You need to use a livebox, nothing else will work" <- Lie, im using my belkin router and its been fine since we got it.
"Your line is only capable of 2mb" <- Lie, I can get full 24mb here, well my neighbour can, I don't see what's different, Besides I used to get 8mb anyway.
"You are the only person that is receiving theses problems, its because you are not using a live box." <- another lie. This was when tons of people were being disconnected every Sunday night a few months back.
"You need to use a livebox, nothing else will work" <- Lie, im using my belkin router and its been fine since we got it.
And they refuse to do a linetest unless you use a livebox. I would if the damn thing would connect, but my router is the only thing that will connect

This is not strictly true. A work colleague of mine in deepest Wales had has copper wires to the exchange (I presume from the green box in the street) changed with an agreeing neighbour so he could get broadband.
Although they did give me a similar sort of excuse about speeds. I was previously with another ISP getting 2MB (when 2MB was the norm). When I left wanadoo would only give me 1MB as they worked from the BT speed predictor tool, rather than running a proper test. This was prob because I had an activation code for a years membership, so they gave me the cheapest they could get away with. When that ran out I aksed for my MAC, and when they offered up to 8MB speeds (for 12 months) I had 2 months of reasonable speeds (4MB)
Also as for speaking to managers, we won another years membership too, to be used via a code. However, because I was an existing customer, I could not be extended because their website didn't cater for it. The call centre just kept saying I have not experience a situation like this before and when I asked speak to a manager she refused. TBH, I wouldn't give the code to anyone now, unless I knew Orange didn't have an LLU presence on that exchange

I doubt your friend did carry out this test, unless of course your friend works for Orange. From your stats you are on Oranges LLU equipment which is a closed system only accessible to Orange.

On ADSL upto 8meg service your line should give you between 5 and 6 megs. It won't under LLU because you've been capped at 608kbps. The capping seems to be a ploy to get further contracts out of its LLU customers. You ring up and complain they put the speed up and you then find yourself on a new 12 month contract. Your best option is to ask for a MAC and move to another ISP.

Except they get BT to fix any faults on your line don't they?

Yes, between house and exchange. At exchange broadband element is connected to Oranges LLU network so hence broadband line test can only be carried out by Orange. 608kbps is a known capping rate used by Orange on their LLU network before it hits your line. With LLU BT will only be able to test line for telephone services and not broadband.

On reading this and your other posts Miles I was just wondering which newspapers you write for.
Looking at your gift of the English language not to mention your spelling , could it be ' The Daily Moron ' ?
