I had to find a unlocked wifi to get here and post it, and I hate it because it makes me feel like a thief.
It all started on Thursday at 8pmish, I was playing SA:MP (Online version of Grand theft auto SA) and I got disconnected, I thought nothing of it and reconnected. But it happened over and over again. When I woke up today, I saw that I wasn't connected since 5:03AM according to mIRC.
I have reset my router tons of times and I still cant connect. But strangely the "Connected light" would be on for around 2 mins and go off, then the "Dialling" light would flash for around 10 mins. I don't know if its my router or what, it is around 3 years old though.
Im going to get my dad to ring Orange up (again) tomorrow.. But they are hardly any help.
Is anyone else having the same problems/Can anyone help me fix this? Its driving me insane.
I find that Orange drops out for me every evening. It seems to get particularly bad around 10.30pm, but that may be that I tend to not use my computer earlier between 7pm and 10pm. Mine has dropped out consistently from 16 Feb this year. Sometimes it stays up for seconds, sometimes longer. Talking to Orange is a total waste of time. They go through a flow chart of questions which takes hours (on premium telephone charges) and that seems to be their only training. They will either say that there are outages in your area, the system is very busy or that they will test your line for the next twenty four hours. I think this is just to get rid of you as it seems to have absolutely no effect at all.
Haven't been on here for absolutely ages, mainly because of no or very few problems, but the same thing just happened to me...

except that it started on Wednesday evening, got on for 15 minutes on Friday, then no connection until Sunday afternoon.
Tech support tried to get me to go through all the reset stuff, but I said I'd already done that. The 2 hour line test was a joke because the connection was back before they'd reported what it was. Something to do with problems on our line - we WERE having problems with people trying to ring us (maybe Orange's fault?). Why does it take 24 hours for the engineer to report?
Anyway, tech support also said they'd had connection problems due to the "amazing demand" from new customers......
The "amazing demand" is probably people thinking that they are getting a good deal with the free laptops and all from PC World.
My dad got off the phone with them again, And as they always say "its because youre not using a livebox" We never even had one, And our router is much better.
We then called again and they said it could be because we have just changed over from xln telecom(?) to BT, even though that was about a week ago.
It looks like im going to be without a proper connection for a while. We need to call back tomorrow before 9pm to talk to an "expert".
After I reported my speed problems since being LLU'd last Friday (3rd August), come Monday 6th August I had no service in the morning for 3 hours. Orange said there was a fault, then the service came back mid-day, back at the same old snails pace though. Same thing happened yesterday too.
Well.. this is great news, Sort of. This is p*****g my dad off so much that he is actually going to change ISP. Bad news is that he isnt letting me choose the ISP because I chose freeserv what is now Orange ages ago, and he wants to go with BT, because they are "popular". >.>
At least we are getting away from Orange. Im constantly trying to get him to go with ADSL24 though.
Ergh.. I dont know what is wrong with my Dad. He wants to stay with Orange because "they are good at helping me" "They know what they are doing" wtf?!
If they knew what they were doing, then how come we have called them up around 10 times alone this week, still not connected and a whole site dedicated to their problems.?! :S
