Hey, I'm really not sure what to do with this. I've been on the phone with Orange just moments ago about my slow download speed. I can get around 60kb/s, which equates to about a 0.5meg connection. I had a new phone line put in yesterday by BT, who said that it can easily take anything up to 5meg. Orange simply said they are upgrading the exchange near me (by a mighty coincidence) and that everything will be fixed within a week, even though this problem has existed for months and months. Obviously that's not going to happen since they don't have a clue what they are doing, so can anybody here help me?

They have you on their llu 608 shows they also have you on a fixed half mb sevice,if you ask them to alter it watch out for them putting you on a new contract without saying anything.
I have no idea what llu is. Why am I on the fixed half meg thing, if I have an 8MB account? I've been on the phone with them dozens of times and they've never said anything about that kind of thing. Is that the problem then?
LLU local loop unbundling means you are on Orange's equipment 608 shows you are capped at half mb download speed ask them why you are capped at that. you will find reading this forum most people get that at times.
I doubt it will get any better on a higher speed either. This is what my router says

Boy you have a problem. I was for months and months getting rubbish download and upload speeds! I am now getting a steady 6 meg all the time although, I do have family in the media. I have been paid a substatinal amount of cash compansation. And loan behold I now have a direct line to a manager at Orange, and courtsey calls once a week! I suggest you phone 07973100550 or free from an Orange phone 550 and speak to customer care Option 4 and then ask to speak to the tech guys in the english call centres they can transfer you direct.
It has taken ages with mine but we got there in the end and im better off aswel!
Just thought I'd post an update for you guys regarding my situation. After several calls I was told to phone the customer services number, which went to a British call center. They told me my line was capped, and said that I'd need a new 12 month contract to uncap it. Eventually I settled with a 6 month contract, and they said in 10 days my speed would go from 0.5mb to at least 5mb.
Surprisingly, the next morning, my connection speed had actually increased, and I'm now at around 6mb. I'm still debating whether or not I should try and get some kind of refund since they had me capped at 0.5mb yet had been charging me for an 8mb account for 9 months.
