Last night I phoned Orange to try and cancel my contract as I am sick of the crap service.
About 2 months ago I upgraded to 8MB unlimited broadband in order to download whatever I wanted. However I have still not been able to download anything. I have been using BitComet to download (have also tried various other torrent programs) and it works for about 20 minutes and then just stops downloading. At this stage I can't even get the web browser up. The only way I can solve the problem is to restart the computer.
After speaking to about 7 different people at Orange over the last 2 months last night I was told that I probably have a virus on my computer which is stopping it? Could this be the case? I have a few anti virus programs installed.
Are you using the speedtouch modem, a livebox or another device to connect with?
If you're on an ethernet connection does unplugging the cable and reconnecting it get the connection working again shortly after?
Wireless, telling it to disconnect and then reconnect?
Does turning the connecting device off and back on without doing anything to the PC help?
Usually this sort of problem is either the connecting device at fault or the PC itself. As long as it's not a USB modem and only restarting fixes the problem then I'd say it's the PC itself. Could be ethernet/wireless driver problems, spyware/virus (if you've got more than 1 up to date scanner installed then it shouldn't be that) or even a windows issue with some sort of error or corruption.

I am using a Liebox to connect that they provided. Last night, when the connection got lost and it stopped downloading I unplugged the ethernet lead from the livebox for a few seconds and then plugged it back in, this immediately restored my connection. What do you think this means?
