Hi from a new member

I've had my Livebox for a couple of weeks now and everything was fine to start with. However, now instead of a regular dialling tone all I am getting is a constant ticking/clicking noise. Very frustrating as I really only got the box to enable me to speak to my son who has recently moved to the States.
Can anybody help before I succumb to the dreaded helpline.
