Hi
Orange sent me a letter that usage of my broadband account is to high and they have no option but to close my account.
They also told me that if I choose to move to another broadband supplier I will have to give him my MAC code. I have it. But my MAC will expire on 23 July, after which it will become inactive and won't work.
Now, they are asking me if I want them to provide me new MAC code which will be active beyond this date.
My question is: Do I need a new MAC ? I'm going to change provider as soon as possible. Can I give him the same MAC I had with Orange ?
I believe you can use the MAC before it expires still, so long as your new ISP gets it ordered before the code invalidates. If they're terminating your account they usually give 30 days notice and the MAC works for 30 days. So usually once it expires then your account is ceased meaning you have to wait for the line to clear before going with a new ISP and could mean upto 4 weeks or longer offline.

I would recommend IDNet and ukfsn and bethere if Be is enabled in ur exchange Be has a 3 month contract the others have a 1 month contract IDNet and Be has free support, do some research go to DSL ZoneUK ISP ratings to se what others say about each ISP and thinkbroadband all ISP have forums there. Im sure other members on here will recommend some more decent ISP's as long as u avoid the big ones you should be ok.
Good Luck

Practically every ISP has the lowest ping to somewhere. It depends if thats one of the places you want to connect to and how their peering agreements are setup. Generally though once you get a ping below 50 in games any perceived advantage is more psychological than due to latency IMO. If it's that important to you though you could always look into getting a "Killer NIC", plenty of reviews around detailing it.

I think i'll choose ukfsn as 'be' is not available at my place.
Do you think my Orange Livebox will work with any new ISP? Or do I have to buy a new router.
Cheers

You're livebox is "on loan" from Orange, they'll want it back and charge you if you don't send it. It's locked to them so you can't use it with another ISP unless you do some hacking. Generally it's easier to get another router.
