I have continued problem free on an old wanadoo tariff, but am being nagged by the kids to migrate to the fast service 8mb. I would be happy to switch to the Orange 2 meg service for £15. I can also switch to 8Mb wanadoo for free.
Having been on the forum, I am worried that switching will lose my current solid 1900 connection. What do readers recommend? (I am 900m from a normal adsl exchange).
The thing is you will get a new 12 months contract and they are still cramming new customers in with their free internet and such.In my opinion it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

I'm not 100% certain on the retentions packages but it's likely they've changed to 18 month contracts just like the for people signing up as new customers.

If this info is any use, for me it was 12 months when I changed on 1st May

Sounds like desperate measures to make sure they replace the hordes of people leaving for 18 months mind you if they can't provide the service then the customer will be able to get out of it anyway.

Dont even CONSIDER "upgrading" its a downgrade, plagued with disconnections / caps etc ... get out while you can and go somewhere who cares and offers a proper broadband service not the c**p Orange suggest works ... cos it DOESNT !
Stay with them and you will suffer big time as i have.
I strongy suggest leaving Orange ASAP.
They are a joke when it comes to service and you're one of the lucky ones who actually have a connection at the moment!
I agree, leave Orange before you get tied up for 18months. You can pretty much guarantee lousy speeds with no way of getting it sorted. Customer service is a joke.
I was with Freeserve originally and had a good service, fairly good with Wanadoo too but Orange has been awful with hours spent on the phone to customer services. My so called 8mb broadband has only ever got to 5.7mb and often goes as low as non existant.
I really wish I had seen posts like this when I upgraded, I would definately have gone elsewhere.
