I was considering buying an external hard drive with an Ethernet port and connecting it to the LiveBox via one of the Ethernet ports.
Before I do this is it likely that I'd be able to access the hard drive using the wireless connection thus giving me Wireless Network Attached Storage ?

For a home NAS storage as far as i know its mainly ethernet their are wireless NAS but geared towards businesses and are expensive.
I have a Western Digital Here theres plenty more there too all ethernet, i also have a Buffalo Linkstation but mine is bricked and i can't use it i wouldn't recommend them.

If you mean connect a NAS by ethernet and then use a wireless connection PC/device to access it, then yest that should work fine. Usually it should just work or like in Steve's case the NAS itself is broken.
