I am moving from Orange. I have my MAC and have given this to my new provider.
Do I need to give notice to Orange; i.e the 30 days needed, or does the MAC effectively do that?
If I need to give notice any idea as to how soon - I'm concerned that they may cease the line, but equally don't want to end up paying for another month with Orange *and* paying the new provider.
I'm not held to a contract with Orange (not that I know of) having been with them some years.
I have just requested my MAC code after weeks of waiting for be to get in my exchange,I decided to go to zen.I believe you now wait until your new isp connects you up then go cancel your direct debit.orange cannot cease the line as they have given you a MAC.This will cease after the change over .For anyone else going for a MAC it was really easy the staff were very polite and asked me why i was moving and they could understand this he tried a little bit to get me to stay but said i will get my MAC in 3 to 5 working days.

As Ciderfox says your new provider will do everything from now on just make sure you cancel your direct debit after your migration has taken place then Orange can't get anything else off you , good luck with your migration

As I want to change my ISP could you tell me which phone number is best to use to get my MAC ? do I have to phone India? or can the MAC be obtained by asking for it by email?
Thanks Brian
I phoned 0870 010 2462 I then went through billing and enquires,I rang around 2pm today got through first ring it tok about 10 minutes. It would probably be best to ring in the day I am not too sure cancellation team works at night though I could be wrong. Also they will then ask you if you want the MAC by email or posting to you,i opted for e mail seeing as they knew it.
I believe it depends on what is left on your contract, unless you can talk them into letting you go for free.i am going to have a go as i was out of contract 2 yrs ago,but I think they put me on a new one when i asked them to put me back on 2mb after they failed with up to 8mb.which they then put me on half a meg.i did get my payments reduced and a retention package but no mention was made of a new contract.i was told there will be a leaving fee unless i am out of contract.so we'll see but i will pay to go .

I think its a cheek charging you considering the service but its well worth it just to be rid of them its not until you been with another ISP for a month you realise how bad Orange really is.
