Well Orange now has a help page describing the process to migrate from them to another provider that provides an address to write to as an alternative to phoning. I have written requesting a MAC code as I don't want to spend a fortune calling their national rate number. I'm not holding my breath.
Just got an email from Orange (not a letter in reply to my letter) entitled here's your MAC code. It had a lot of info as to how you can use the MAC code but unfortunately didn't actually include the MAC code. I guess this means I have to wait 30 days and then re-apply.
No you don't have to wait 30 days to re-apply.
They have to give you it within 5 working days, by law.
As they haven't done this yet ring them up and demand the present one.
The sooner you get out the better.

Thanks Andy. As I support the 'say no to 0870' campaign I emailed them instead pointing out that they hadn't actually included the MAC code. They, suprizingly, responded within a couple of hours providing the missing MAC code. It doesn't actually look like I was led to believe that a MAC code should look like though. I thought that the code always began with FTIP or BBIP, followed by six or eight digits, a slash and then finally by five more digits. My code begins with KMM followed by eight numbers, then a letter V followed by 5 numbers and finishing with the letters LOKM and no slashes anywhere in the code.
As I got mine this week I can say that. That is not a MAC code but some sort of email receipt starting kmm. Then inside depending if you were or are on the llu the MAC should start llsl.If you are determined to leave ring them and ask them for it they obviously have it.

They are unbelievable they are doing it to make it more awkward to leave if they keep holding back Jerry report them as its a fine now if they dont provide the MAC within 5 days.
