Hi Cap..I'm in London and going through the same..I've had it with them..my speed has been down to 40 kbs at times..Put in for a code(well even got to wait for that from them) and I'm waiting to change over the next few days..they can't do what they say..it's as simple as that..

In my case, as you can see, my speed has recovered to the post-upgrade
level from mid-June of ~ 4 Mbps, because Orange continue to do network
admin relating to this upgrade (I hope!).
I did expect this, as I've only had speed degradation over the weekend
periods recently. I'll see what happens tonight...
I should be able to get speeds > 6Mbps, however, because my router
stats are ideal and I'm about 500 metres from my exchange.
I'm capped at ~ 4 Mbps at the exchange and so now weighing up the
hassle of migrating with the shame of paying £17.99 per month for
less than I should now be getting as a Freeserve "veteran".

Heavens! Only a week ago I was getting 68kbps download. What a difference a week makes. Upload speeds still not consistent with a reasonable download speed though. Anyone know why?

I experimented with MTU values on my router and PC and found I could maximise my upload speed at 251 kbps when my MTU was 1478.
This might not necessarily work for you because of the LLU at your
exchange. After all, you now get nearly 6 Mbps download and my LLU has
been capped at just over 4 Mbps, even though my line is clean and I'm
less than 1km from my exchange. So, we each seem to be getting an
individual "customer experience" (as Orange likes to describe our
suffering).

How can you tell you've been capped at 4?
My stats constant:

Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 9.2
Attenuation (dB) : 38.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 7968
ADSL status : Connected [0]

Morning Keith,
My download speed has never exceeded ~ 4.3 Mbps since my mid-June
improvement, so I assert that the LLU h/w has capped me. My Netgear
wired DG834 stats are constant at :->
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7680 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 19 db 4.5 db
Noise Margin 13 db 31 db
I guess it's possible that my d/l speed could be increased without adverse
effects if I contact the Citrus Ones, but I think I'd rather keep my powder
dry for a MAC code request at a time of my choosing.
FYI: The Thinkbroadband speedtest shows me at 64xx kbps (6.3 Mbps)
but I think there's a bug. I suspect it's shifting the digits one d.p. to
the right and prepending a "6".
