Hi All
Been lurking for some time now having recently moved house and to Orange as an ISP.
Sadly didn't do my research beforehand and it's cost me dear...3 months of dismal speeds and hours spent on the phone to technical 'support'. I've suffered this long as I'm also a mobile customer so it's only costing me a fiver.
Now however I wouldn't even sign up to Orange if it was free. But I'm faced with breaking an 18 month contract.
Hence the reason for the title of this posting...I feel justified in pointing out to Orange that they have not provided me with an adequate service (never been anywhere near 8Mb) but the reality is that if I cancelled the contract then I would need to pay a fee. I tried to get them to authorise a waiver for this but as I've never reported loss of service they are refusing to grant the waiver. But...in my heart of hearts I don't want to get involved in letters for debt collection, solicitors and all the rest of it.
First question is...has anyone actually got their MAC code, stuck 2 fingers up to Orange and got awat scoy-free even though they are in breach of contract?
Next one is..how much is the cancellation fee?
And the last one...if I really have to then I'll pay but all suggestions as to how I get out for nothing are much appreciated.
Thanks
Gary
Thats exactly what i done, a couple of months into my contract and got tired of poor connection and no one in Technical who can speak proper English.
So as of today i get converted to BE, therefore when i go home, i am cancelling the DD to Orange and they will be given 2 fingers when they ask for money for breaking an 18 month contract.
As for the mobile i bought it for the wife but wqill keep an eye out they dont try to take the BB money out of that DD. If they do ill tell them where to go a second time.
So no, dont pay, they broke the contract when they didnt live up to their side of the bargain.
Good on you...please keep us posted on Orange's response (if any). Just out of interest did you have any periods when you were disconnected or was poor performance the issue?
Thanks
can you not just ring up and change your 5 pound a month broadband to the free broadband. and then whenever they do that ring up and say you would like to pay of the remainder of the contract which costs nothing a month to move provider.
My issue was all of a sudden my net started playing up whereby it would randomly disconnect. Sometimes it would happen once every few days, sometime it would happen ten times a day. Being an avid online gamer it was a real issue for me. I tried phoning them and was appalled the service of their supoort and actually got 2 diff guys who could hardly speak a word of english, and what should have been a 5 min call would turn into an hour of "what" "eh.." "excuse me"
So thats when i decided to give them the heave ho!
Just cancelled my DD as i have just received confirmation that BE is all up and running.
Depends where you want to move to but i can recommend BE whom you will find here: https://www.bethere.co.uk/
Basically when you sign up to a package there will be a bit when they will ask you gor your MAC code.
Its really painless, i didnt lose any connection, it took about 1.5 weeks to go through and now although ive only had it 2 days, my net is permanant with no disconnections at all.
Any other questions just ask away.
Oh and dont cancel your DD with Orange until you are actually up and running with new isp. I beleive they can block the transfer if you dont.
I actually got an email from Orange just today asking for new payment details lol.....as if.
