..APPLICATION ERROR: unable to create entry (""+orangebroadband+++)...
Good grief! When I used to do it for a living it used to take me under 5 minutes to fix this over the phone.
I wish I could speak to your Father over the phone.
It would be a real pain to fix via forum postings to a 3rd (non-techie ) party because of the permutations and the amount of feedback required from the user.
There's an Orange Knowledge Base article about this issue here:
It's sorted.......Thanks a million........it took a little longer than 5 mins tho !!!
The only thing is that it wont allow him to connect at all if windows firewall is activated..............dont suppose you know a work round for that do you??????????
when he double clicks to connect it attempts to connect but just sits all day at attempting user authorisation/connection/verification or something similar.......
when he disables the firewall it connnets ok and does the user verification thing in seconds.......................
Is it poss that windows is blocking the 'port?'that the modem is attempting to use?? (that's about as techie as i get!!!)..if this is the case how do i fix it..........................
Sounds like the firewall must be blocking it. If you go into the control panel, open the windows firewall icon, go into advanced there's a restore defaults button. All programs which have been given access will have to be re-allowed but the one that comes up for the first connnection should be allowed to let it go through.
Other option is to go onto the exceptions tab and tick to allow the speedtouch connection program.
For a simpler solution, tell him to download and install zonealarm and disable windows firewall. He should also download some form of adware removing tool as its likely he's become infected by surfing without protection.
Got the old man to download windows updates now he's on broadband..........has NEVER updated!!.................installed updates ok but guess what....the bl**dy bb is not working again!!!!!
Same error message as before, so I know how to fix this!!..........Go to device manager to update driver....and.....'update manager is unable to continue you are already runnining the latest driver for this device' (or similar)
