1.I have a desktop PC and a Laptop both with XP HE.
2. Both these computers are operating wirelessly with the Livebox and also I have a telephone connected to the Livebox. All working well
I have now received the Vista upgrade for my desktop PC only and what I would like to know is if I install this upgrade on my desktop, will this in anyway affect the laptop or telephone connections with the Livebox. I understand I have to change the desktop settings from WEP to WAP. I am also not sure whether the desktop would have to have a LAN connection, and if so would this affect the laptop (working wirelessly)???
Simply installing Vista on the desktop shouldn't effect the phone or the other PC in any way, unless you've shared files etc. For that you may have to set it up again.
So long as your wireless will work on Vista then there shouldn't be much need to change things, just tell it to connect, enter the key, press the 1 button and it'll do most of the work setting it up.
I have performed the upgrade to Vista. Although I had problems with other parts of the install (don't ask me about SATA HD drivers!) the Wireless Link to my livebox worked fine.
However, I believe you should ensure two things before you attempt the upgrade with respect to your Wireless Link:
1) In the Livebox configuration pages (Configuration / Advanced / Wireless page) ensure that your livebox is NOT set to 'WPA or WEP security'. You can set it to any of the other Three settings (i.e. WEP Security Only, WPA Security Only, or No Security (not recommended)), just don't use the dual option as this is not standard and known to upset Vista.
2) Ensure that you have downloaded the latest VISTA driver (if available) for your PC wireless adapter from the manufacturers website before upgrading. Therefore, if Vista doesn't include the necessary driver, you can install it yourself after the upgrade to get yourself back online.
With my Linksys PCI WLAN card Vista included a generic Broadcom driver which worked enough to get online, but was very basic and didn't include as many features as the Linksys Vista driver I installed subsequently. After a week Microsoft released a signed Linksys driver for the card via Windows Update anyway.

Dual can upset things but it's more based on the adapter and it's drivers. I've helped a few people using vista connect wirelessly using the dual option without any problems.
Well it has taken me all this time to pluck up the courage to upgrade my computer to Vista It has been a long time as I was worried that my Livebox would play up and give me problems.
I did it yesterday, my desktop computer would not accept an upgrade, so I had to do a complete reload.
I am pleased to say that Vista picked up the Livebox with no problems and absolutely no change of settings. My laptop is still on XP and also working fine.
