For the last 2 weeks my service with Orange has been virtually next to none (dial up speeds) So I requested a MAC code on wed last week. Almost immediately my speed dropped to dialup. Last night I phoned Orange technical support to see what was going on as I am still paying for a service. The guy said Orange has heavy server load and will be fixed by the 15th June. He then asked me to hold on while he schedules a line test. He came back 2 mins later and told me write down this web address and go on it tomorrow and then call back with the results. He spelt out the website address letter for letter so there was no misunderstanding. I told him to hang on while I type the web address in the bar and he interupted me (by calling me peter, my name isnt peter) and said do not use the address right now, call back with the results. So he went off and I typed the address he gave me (it did seem like a genuine site for broadband as it ended with *****broadband.com). However it was anything but . It was a gay **** site.
I immediatly called customer support and filed a complaint but was only able to speak to someone in billing??? She confirmed I had just spoken to someone whos name she could not pronounce and would not give me. She went and spoke to her team leader and she told me to write in with a complaint.
I then made a complaint on the ispa website.
In all the years of having the internet I have never come across this and I certainly will not be paying the rest of the contract.
Also I still havent had my original tech query answered.
Just an update, i phoned the escalation dept after writing my post and they stated that they had had a number of complaints about this for the same operator. He said all he could do is opplogise and offered some free time which i refused as I am leaving. I have also contacted theregister.co.uk
