I look after the local folk club's website that was created many years ago, with an fsnet.co.uk URL. I tend to update the site only every couple of months, but often enough to avoid re-activation of the account.
The dialup connection works, and even allows web-browsing. But when I try to use Terrapin FTP to update the club's What's On page, I am getting messages back saying that "The network cannot be reached from this host at this time. Try again later!"
(I must confess to having changed the PC a couple of times in the last couple of months.) Is it possible that the dialup configuration is not right for uploading?
The dialup number was recently changed I believe which is probably why it's having trouble accessing it. Not sure of the new one but the help pages should give more info.

So, the site is still available?

Is this an Orange dial-up connection? Using the same details as your FTP logon?

I don't use Terrapin but it sounds like the FTP Server is rejecting your connection attempt. Possibly an ACL issue. Have you tried re-dialling to get a different IP Address?
I've just tried it here (from an Orange ADSL connection) and it worked well.
The club website is accessible, just needs some dates updating.
The dialup line is the old Freeserve number (0845 0796699). Perhaps I need to use a later one as suggested by Elhana. Wanadoo said they were going to let us know the number, but didn't manage to do so.
I have tried a number of times. And with other ftp products.
Unfortunately I am on Telewest cable (no complaints about that), and have always had to use a dialup line to get access to the uploads area. (They have to get revenue for the service somehow!)
I also had problems on the old freeserve 0845 dial up number.
Eventually managed to evoke the following from Orange Technical Services
Quote:
We have issued a new connection number for Pay As You GO members, which
replaces the previous 0845...numbers. The line capacity of these numbers
is being reduced in stages and will soon cease to work. This means that
anyone still connecting via these numbers will experience a poor or
curtailed connection.
The new PAYG number is 1470 0844 0587000
This new 0844 number will be 1p a minute at weekends (as it is now) and
2p a minute (up from 1p - 1.5p) in the evenings. Daytime Internet access
(6am to 6pm Mon-Fri) will be charged at 4p a minute (up from 3.95p).
i.e. Orange are purposefully giving 0845 users a reduced level of service.
Notice though that in (Oops Orange moved the link - see below)
That Orange say that on 0845 you will have the same level of service, and that it will only cost a local call rate.
Go figure!
Note added later: The link originally above broke, as Orange didn't give a static link to the article. To find the article goto http://help.orange.co.uk/ and search for "kb4339".
