Just a quick question I hope that someone will be able to answer...
As an fed-up Orange customer with email problems I'm planning on moving asap. At the moment I have an old Freeserve email address in the format xxxxx@xxxxx.freeserve.co.uk. When I finally get away from Orange will I still be able to access that email account via Orange webmail, or do all webmail accounts need to be in the xxxxx@fsmail format to work?
Yes you can access the account through the webmail. It'll run for a few months then suspend. You can then either reactivate it on the Orange site or just let it go if you're not bothered.

Elhana,
Like dps10030, I'm also planning on leaving Orange and have set up new email addresses with 1&1, which I currently access together with the Freeserve addresses via OE.
Would I not be able to carry on accessing the Orange mail servers via OE with a new ISP?

Yes you can use Orange pop servers for incoming and your new ISP's smtp server for outgoing as most ISP's block port 25

As Steve said, you'll be able to receive your email without problem as you can download email from any connection providing the account is setup, which it is as you have it working.
You won't be able to send through that account without altering the SMTP server to your new ISP's so they're sent through them instead.
Thanks Steve /Elhana,
I'm actually sending most emails from my new addresses anyway, if for no other reason that the freeserve addresses don't send half the time.
Obviously I'm more concerned about missing important emails from people who are still using the old addresses.
While I can use my address book to tell most contacts the new addresses, it's frightening on how many internet sites, like this one for example, I will need to change the email address.
