I can confidently say your problem will be Orange.
I had problems last year - slow speeds then disconnections.
When I rang the jokers they gave their usual bull excuses of 'a line fault, ring back in 48 hours after a test'.
I left and went to idnet - never had a dsconnection since moving and the line is fine.
I strongly recommend you leave Orange ASAP.
If you go to a decent ISP like Idnet, Be, BT etc then you will see your connection become fast and stable.
[quote="joedeejay"]For the past 2 weeks i was relatively happy with my connection, however about 4 days ago its turned absolutely terrible.
Exactly the same happened to me. Last Friday afternoon I could not get on line for about four hours, a neighbour had the same problem so Orange could not blame my computer or line. Since then it has got slower and slower. I have just done a test and download is now 115kb, upload is 250kb. I have been getting up to 3.5mps recently. I suppose it was too good to be true.
See the "Had enough" thread for the list of settings you should check.
Also remember recently we have all suddenly seen a drop in speed. This appears to be region-related so Orange may be currently working on your region. Although Friday to Wednesday seems a long time. No, check those settings again
What !........every day ?...just for 15 mins ? +/- how much ?
There's got to be a simple explanation for that...although I can't think of one immediately.

Same problem here. Never had any problems until last Thursday when speeds dropped to practically useless levels.
I phoned Orange yesterday to report the problem after carrying out a speed test and getting this result....
They've told me they'll carry out a line check and get back to me after 24-48 hours but after reading some of the horror stories here, I'm not overly confident the problem will be sorted any time soon.
I've just been reading this forum and have the same problem. I have called Orange every day and today decided I'd had enough. When I called them to break my contract they told me that i would have to pay the outstanding service charge (in the region of £150). Needless to say I am not happy with the prospect of staying with Orange and am very much against paying for something that I'm not getting. Especially with their broadband service not being fit for purpose.
For the last 5 or 6 days I've been getting connection speeds of 0.1mb/s download and 0.4mb/s upload when I am paying for a 8mb/s service. When I called the first time I was told that this is a problem that has been going on for some time and they are working to resolve by the end of June. When I called today to cancel my contract insisting that it was not me who was beaking the contract but them. They refused to consider cancelling my service without my buying out of the contract even though they are aware of the issue and are not providing the service which they advertise.
If they had emailed me prior to this and informed me that this decrease of speed would be occuring, I would probably be slightly more accepting. But the shoddy approach of this company and their unwillingness to listen is astounding. I want out... any advice guys?
