My Livebox setup works fine with several different USB and PCMCIA wifi adapters, but it fails to allocate an IP address when I use an ORiNOCO PCMCIA card. (The ORiNOCO card works fine with other wireless routers.)
Has anyone else come across (and solved) this problem?

UNABLE TO CONNECT WITH WIRELESS:
Are you pressing Button 1 on Livebox to put it into pairing mode?
Press Button 1 on Livebox so the wifi light flashes. This puts livebox into pairing mode and you have 10 minutes to try and connect your wireless device . This only needs to be done once and then you should be able to connect every time .
I had to change security on Livebox to WEP only.
WEP key is case sensitive.
If security is an issue WPA is more secure, try WPA only.
You could also try Changing the channel. One recommended to try is channel 9.
Another issue is if there are 2 programmes on the computer that you are trying to connect trying to control the wireless. Turn of the programme that came with the wireless card and use XP to control the connection.
I think all the settings are correct (as other laptops and other wifi adapters connect without problems). The problem is just with one adapter -- whichever laptop I put it in.
The link you provide discusses a similar problem, and provides a very detailed solution. I will have a go at it tonight.
