For the past few weeks my braodband connection has been rather slow and for the past Three days I have been unable to access the majority of websites from my computer, including hotmail and the bbc webpage. Strangely, this website and google works but very few others. The Orange technical support people have been completely useless as per usual and keep insisting I check the settings on my PC and wait 24 hours.... How many periods of 24 hours do they expect me to wait?!
I've read a few helpful topics on here regarding similar problems - have tried changing the DNS, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I also read the stuff about MTU settings but am unable to access the website where I can download the MTU settings tweaker...
Has anyone else experienced similar problems or have any advice on how to get my full internet access back?
Because of changes that Orange have been implementing, the settings that used to work on your computer, probably now don't and that's why you are experiencing problems.......but don't expect Orange to tell you this.
Then aftermaking the changes, try to click on the DR TCP link and mod your MTU/RWIN
Using 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 should be able to get into all web pages......unless there's something else wrong.
If you can get into http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks, it will report on your current settings so you'll know if you need to run DR TCP to change MTU/RWIN. If your connection speed has changed (upgraded?) then almost certainly you'll need to mod your MTU/RWIN
