Since being a regular contributor to this Forum, I believe that I have now mainly resolved my email problems, my connection speed problems and my accessing web page problems.
All this has been achieved with little or no valuable input from Orange's Customer Services, Technical Services, Broadband Response, Customer Action Team, Eric Abensur and Didier Lombard.
I am now back to the level of broadband performance that I enjoyed with Wanadoo prior to June 2006 when Orange became involved.......and with no thanks to Orange.
Modifying MTU and RWIN settings, using specific DNS server addresses, using specific SMTP IP addresses have all been suggested by Members & Admin....NOT Orange.
All these achievements are thanks to the Members and to Admin who work together as a team.......now there's a thought for you, Orange.
Is this the key to how we are able to do a better job resolving the problems caused by Orange than Orange are ?
Or am I just lucky ?
Could I log on tomorrow and find it's all gone "pears up" ?
Have I just Murray Walker'd myself ?
I'm still of the opinion that Orange haven't a clue as to why the changes that they implement cause the problems that we experience.
You have to remember using specific IP's isn't normally recommended as they can and do change. Also it prevents the system doing any load balancing by diverting clients to different IP's as needed.
Elhana, (in the style of Vicky Pollard) "I can't believe you just said that".
Why on earth are you talking about "load balancing" and "diverting clients to different IPs" in reference to Orange ?
They are not fully in control of their system......that is plainly obvious to us users.
That's why we need to do our utmost to secure a decent service by whatever means are available to us. If we overstep the acceptable boundary then they will pull the plug on us won't they ?
I'm not saying not to use the IP's just that it's not recommended unless you understand what you're doing and how to correct it if/when it changes.
If there wasn't any diverting to different IP's and it always sent you to one server then you'd either be able to send email or not. The threads on the topic clearly show the issue as being very intermittant, coming and going at different times, pointing to being diverted to a problem server. Using a set IP and having no problems also shows that it's not all the servers being effected by the same issue, again pointing to being diverted to a problem server at times.
